I tried a search but couldn't find any answers so here it goes.

My theft deterent light intermittently comes on while driving. Sometimes when this happens my doors lock sometimes the radio gets real quiet. This only happens for a second or two then everything is normal.

I took it to dealer to check for codes and the tech II said couldn't comunicate with ECM. The tech said that the scanner could read other stuff but not that. I was having them check the theft light and injectors.

They say I need to replace ECM. My question is can a Ipod adapter plugged into the bose radio cause this type of problem. I also have a BD programmer but I returned to stock programming before I went in to dealer. The Ipod adapter is the only other aftermarket gadget that I have connected and it was connected when they tried to run the scanner but tech did have radio off. Any help would be appreciated.

Your Ipod adapter or any other aftermarket alarms or stereo equipment is more than likely the problem.

Beginning in 2003 GM started to run more and more information on the CAN bus. Any additions or deletions to this can mess with the traffic on this bus and cause problems.

FYI,

I have an XM adapter from Soundgate that came with a break out harness that plugs into the back of the factory head unit. When plugged in, I experience the very same thing with my Tech 2 not communicating. In addition I can't even load or unload a program using a handheld programmer such as the BD or Quad, etc.

thanks trippen,
I wondered if the adapter could be the problem. I kinda athink that the security light thing started after i installed it. I am going to take it out and go back to dealer to see if it fixes it [i hope that is all that is wrong that ECM is high to replace

All your problems might just go away the minute you unplug it. :D

well trippen you were right just got back from dealer no problems after I unhooked Ipod adapter. It was a axxess adapter. I am going to try the other ipod adapter now. The axxess one caused a lot of U codes between the diffrent modules

The tech also said my injectors were fine.
