: HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE DOORS?

I feel like a knucklehead for asking, but I can't figure out how to adjust the doors. My pass side front door sits a little low front to rear and is most noticeable where it meets the ext cab door. It was pretty easy on my '97 but these hinges look like they have no adjustment. You can see the problem in this pic:

Anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance!

A 20-some year retired GM mechanic friend of mine has a tool that is attached to the door latch when the door is in the open position, and it provides leverage to "rebend" the door hinges into the correct alignment. He used it on my old '88 Silverado, and the sagging doors were perfectly realigned in about 30 seconds!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif He never physically touched the hinges.

I had that truck for about another three years, until I traded it in on my dually, and the doors were still in perfect alignment.

(EDIT) I would think that any good body shop or garage would have a similar tool...

I've seen it done with a well placed 2x4......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Not sure I'd recommend that, but it was the dealer's body shop who adjusted the door on one of my new trucks a number of years ago that way.

I thought it was pretty low budget, but they explained that bending things is the way it's done and they had a special tool, but the board worked just as well and was quicker.

Thanks for the replies. I was afraid the answer might be something along those lines. The hinges do not look like they are adjustable. The rear door (ext cab) hinges are welded in place on both sides of the hinge with no chance for adjustment. I guess I'll call around and see if I can find a guy who is qualified to bend door hinges. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I do not have the stones to lever around on it with a 2x4. I'd rather lay down a few bones and have an insurance policy if something goes wrong.

Thanks,
