I have a question about my spare tire. I have a 13 year old truck with the spare mounted under the bed. To my knowledge this has never been used (maybe not even taken off). My question is should i take it off and drive around with it on for a while to get it used a little and make sure its alright or is it fine where it is? Thanks.

My 97 2500 tire was dry rotted win we went to use it.

I'd say at least take it out from under the truck to make sure that you can actually do it. I have a friend that had the same vintage vehicle (a nissan mid-size truck). When he tried to get the spare out (and needed it) it was rusted in place, couldn't budge the nut holding the tire. Probably wouldn't hurt to inspect the tire while you had it out.
