Hello, I have the 3-M hood and grille kit and it is almost (95%)invisable. It does not show in a photo. However, one word of caution, get it professionally installed and especially the hood, as the compound curves were troublesome. The material is soft and tends to scratch but it is polishable too.

Is your truck pic on here? I would like to see it if I can. I don't want to spend a lot of money and not be happy.

I have Invinca Shield installed on mine. Did it myself ~ just because someone else (professional) does it for you doesn't guaranty satisfaction but it can be frustrating doing it yourself ~ but doable ~ use copious solution. One w/bubbles, even wrinkles is better looking that pushing a plastic mainsail down the road http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

Hey guys. Is this 3M cover come in a kit? Where can I get it? I was searching the web yesterday but came up with nothing. The 3M website is too huge to be useful. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

My 2 cents, I had my truck for 2 weeks without a bug guard and I have a chip about 1/2 way up my hood. Haven't had a chip since I put the guard on it.

In the for what it is worth dept, I did a lot of research prior to installing the clear bra on my truck, and the 3m material seemed to be the best. For instance, it has uv protection, and specs out at less than 10% optical fading in 24 months; should it have to be removed.....it is possible with little or no paint damage (provided the paint was good to start with) ect ect. It goes on clear, with no yellow "cast" in the product itself. It is also the most expensive, as there are lower priced products out there.....but you get what you pay for. Also the thicknesss is a factor, and the "durability/longevity" of the glue. Check it out for yourself, but i ended up getting the 3m product, and so far so good.

I agree with Sir-Col, I installed the 3M. I installed it Aug of 01. I added it on the nose of the hood, the corner of front fenders and the fenders of the dually bed. I have 80K miles and it looks perfect still. I have had some serious bug guts stains but it can be polished right out with a low grade polishing compound. I would never use the plastic bug deflector again, they whistle, cause air disturbance on the windshield wipers and around the mirrors. This is a very clean add on which stops chips and stained paint. It is removable with some heat if you should need to replace it. The install is a bit of a chore due to the varying angles but as long as you keep it wet it moves around with great ease. If you do not want to install yourself, take it to a window tinter, it applys the same way.

I would post a picture of it but honestly it really does not show up enough for you to make a judgment. I believe Invinca Shield is the 3M material. Invinca Shield has a contract with Mercedes Benz and Porsche for this material to be installed on virtually all their highend cars.

Seen something that indicated Invinca shield is 3M component. Might have been their website or the packup data that came w/the kit.

I too must warn you against doing it yourself. I purchased the 3m Invica Shield for about $100.00 and watched the video three times, did all the prep work and was completely frustrated by the deep contours in the 02 HD's hood. I did everything I could and spent many hours on it and it came out just- ok. It bugged me (no pun) for weeks until the car guy down the road told me about this guy who was coming to his house to install the product on all his cars. He called the guy, ordered one for my truck and for $200.00 I could proudly show my truck in public again. If you can live with the wrinkles, smudges, cloudy look, then try it yourself. If not, you can find professional installed from the website. The product the guy used was a 3M product but it wasn't Invica Shield. It covers more truck surface than the Invica did, but seems like thinner, more user friendly stuff. He has a franchise and he does most of <st1:place>New England</st1:place>'s high price dealerships. In my opinion, well worth the money.Edited by: blue_lightning
