Well here I go again. My last posts on this subject were only in August 05' when my truck was getting the second set of injectors. I was at 58k miles and had previously had injectors replaced at 32k. Well my truck is in the shop again, this time 64k,and injectors 3,4 are bad. I know the last time the dealer told me the trucks were all getting rebuilds from that point forward, well I guess rebuilds don't hold up very well, since I am back after only 6k miles. The truck had been running rough at idle and was hard to start at times, but no smoke and no real lack of performance. I am told this is a sign of high return rates. I will try to get my balance rates when I pick it up today. They tell me I will need to return to get the injectors done next week and to go ahead and take it on my planned dune trip this weekend as it will not hurt it. BTW I was told they will do all eight, as they have done in the past. I sure hope that the extended special policy will also include the 03' and 04' lb7 trucks. I guess my question to anyone who may know is, do some trucks go through injectors faster than others or is it just how much work the vehicle is doing, that wears them out? I have done more fuel filter changes than required, and have the recall filter on right now which is only a month or so old. Oh well I guess at least I will not have to pay.

Good Luck,

My 02 has had 4 sets in 152,000 miles which GM paid for. Now it has been setting since mid October with a piston in the oil pan. I have had 4 shops (2 GM certified) tell me it was caused by the injectors. GM does not want to cover the damage caused by the injectors. Again, good luck.

It's probably due to all high performance banks stuff ya got on there...

:joke:

The best thing you can due is proper maintainance. Routine fuel filter changes, if you dont have a nicktane kit or racor maybe you should look at investing in one of those. Injectors definately seem to be a problem but really aren't predictable as to certain trucks having more failures

Yup ,
Theres no telling why some like my 02 with 149000 on the orginal injectors just keeps on rolling, pulling, running great. No secondary filtration, nothing special. Canadian fuel maybe? Dunno.

back from the dealer and they said the imjectors are at 4-5mm3 which I guess is actually on the edge of being bad, but they are going to do all eight since it has a rough idle and is hard to start at times(multiple attempts) the dealr has been good to me, they tend to be very proactive. I actually have talked with alot of dealers about the banks stuff and they said it does not hurt the injectors. they have said that the pressure type boxes will mess up the pump.

you are lucky to have a dealer that doesn't care about performance addons.

i got the truck in today and guess what. the balance rates are good. I saw the tech 2 with my own eyes. I guess pulling my trailer a week ago and running it down the track a couple times must have cleared things up:cool:. The hard start and rough idle is also better. mine must have been clogged? oh well
