Unless something was changed very recently, it depends on where you live. I know the Metroplex, probably Houston, maybe Austin and San Antonio or any other large metropolitan area, do do emissions testing. However, if you live in a rural area you likely will not.

they are sniffing here, but I believe Diesels are exempt in Texas

Exactly, it depends on the county in which you live....check your local laws.....

It might also help if you filled out some info in your profile so we know were you are too.....

I drive 50 miles to work, just to live in a county without emissions. $12 inspections sure beats those $40.

That doesn't make good economic sense :)

It makes sense because it allows me to alter my other vehicles without worrying about pass/fail. Personal freedom really.:ro)

It makes perfect sense. Lower taxes, lower housing cost and no polution. It's a better quality of life. I know. I left the metro mess almost 2 years ago and have enjoyed every minute of it.

I live in the DFW area. When I had my 02 duramax dually inspected they just looked at the truck itself. Checked the tires, lights, etc. No sniffer. And it only cost like $8 or $12 if I remember.
