: Hypertech Tuner
Just Tool'n 02-13-2006, 01:34 PM Who has used?
Do you like it, any fuel svings by using it on level 1.
I am looking for mild performance gains, looking not to kill my major investment.
Also want to see MPG increase.
Also like the fact, than when I put bigger tires on later, I can adjust the speedo.
surfrippa 02-13-2006, 01:50 PM Get it, perfect for your application. I used to have it.
hrleyrider 02-13-2006, 02:35 PM Had one on an 03 avalanche. I was not impressed and no fuel savings at all. I was able to calibrate the speedo with it though for up to 33 inch tires.
The Waco Kid 02-13-2006, 03:03 PM No fuel improvements. Does a good job of changing the speedo for tires. I have only had one DTC and it cleared that so it has that going for it. It does okay for a mild performance increase. I have noticed that they are getting cheap on ebay. I saw them the other day for $275, that is hard to beat.
h8nopi 02-13-2006, 08:28 PM Spend the little extra and get predator or anything else anything. I enjoy my pred 2.02 and would never purchase another hypertech again.-:t
collin04 02-13-2006, 08:57 PM i have one on mine, my truck tows better with it and i see a little mgp increase (i'm on level 2 right now). it might just be me though. ( i am 19 and if you got behind me you would think i am 95 as slow as i drive) but i think if i could do it over again i would go with the predator 2.02

My sentiments exactly...
duramax/a 02-14-2006, 09:01 PM I think that it is great. I have only had it for a month or so. At the same time I switched to synthetic oil and my fuel mileage is now better than ever at 18.5 in town. I love the performance. Even when your foot is not in it, it feels much stronger. I have only used level one and I think that the hypertech is great. I decided on the hypertech because I don't want to do anything to shorten the life of my truck and I feel that this program is within the capabilities of my truck without doing damage.
On edit: I have the lb7. I purchased the tuner brand new on ebay for 199.95. What a deal. This guy had 5 of these and if you want me to ask him if he has any left, then let me know and I will email him. The same tuner works for your truck.

Well I Got One, Plugged It In And Was Told To Send It In ( Code ) So It Could Or Would Work On My Duramax.
Why Sell Something That Won't Work Strait Out Of The Box ????
Sent It Back And Got Fast Refund From Stylin Concepts..

Kevdude59 03-15-2006, 10:24 PM I have had mine in for almost two weeks now. About 2 mpg increase, but what a difference over stock. I bought it from the for sale section. For a cheap thrill, I recommend it! No codes, quick and simple to program.
:D
Unit453 03-15-2006, 10:30 PM I never had a problem with it. I have about 40,000 miles on level 3 and I have towed my share. Its cheap and a huge improvement over stock.
Why does everyone hate it so much?
CHEVY052500HD 03-16-2006, 12:16 AM I loved my hypertech, just out grew it :muahaha: . I had about 36,000 miles on stage 3 no problems.
Ben46a 03-16-2006, 06:15 AM I liked it when i had it, other that it locked up everydamn time i tried to program. took 25 times to get it back to factory specs the last time. Then i smashed it on the floor and never felt so good. I now have a predator and like it a lot more.
Newtorving 03-16-2006, 06:22 AM I do not have one but I have questions about them. Can you use it to ONLY change tire size and then use it on another vechicle for performance? Not trying to hijack the thread but I have not found this answer searching.
I had one but switched to a Predator 2.02 !
My thoughts............run the Predator on 40 hp and you will get similar milage to the HT and have a lot more take off than the HT on Level 3..........plus it is a quieter smoother running tune and the the Predator shifts a whole lot smoother and crisper than the HT !!
Unit453 03-16-2006, 10:58 AM You CAN tune it only for tire size changes and not have to power tune the computer.
Newtorving, You can not load it in another vehicle unless everything is set back to stock on your vehicle (the HT locks in your VIN # until it is put back to stock)!
bigjohnson450 03-16-2006, 04:47 PM my buddy has one on his '020 dmax and he seems to like it, he's never had a problem but i know he would like to get a little more power sometime soon.
Newtorving 03-16-2006, 04:47 PM That's what I was afraid of cbm, thanks.
h8nopi 03-16-2006, 05:30 PM and that's if you can get it off your truck. Mine locked on my other truck and would never come off. HT will not help you in any way whatsoever. They said I could send it in and for $200 they would reflash the program, not fixing it on my truck. Their support is $hit and they way they treat their customers is $hit. That is why I have made it my mission to cost them money any chance I get by telling everyone how crappy they really are. So far my $350 programmer has cost them over $2500, and still counting:ro)
moscow_silverado 03-18-2006, 02:06 AM I am looking into the Hypertech for the same reason as mentioned above, I don't want to harm my investment in any way. I don't want to have to go through the tranny or anything like that but would like a little more get up and go on the low end. Hypertech seems like it fits my application perfectly. My question is how much harder on the tranny is the Predator 2.02? and is there as much low end on the predator? Thanks all!
My vote is for PPE "economy" model to match above listed performance. Should you ever need it, Predator customer service sux more than anyone out there....although the unit is great!
Unit453 03-18-2006, 10:31 PM Hypertech is very "punchy" down low.
I personally would like a bit more high end though without having to tear apart my tranny.
Mine works well for my needs which are similar to moscows and others posting above. No problems, no DTC's
Moscow , The Predator is the way to go no doubt.......I can't see how anyone who had tried both would like the HT better . And based on my truck........I don't think you can limp it in 40 or 65 hp tunes or I'd have done it(I have ran the crap out of mine in those tunes).........85 can in 5th for sure (I had no problems in the lower gears) !!
Unit453 03-23-2006, 07:59 PM I would love to try out a predator for a week or so. I'm sure I'd want on ethen.
towdog333 03-23-2006, 08:46 PM Had an Hypertech on a 02 Chevy HD gasser , yea it does do tire size changes, HP is nice but absolutely no MPG increase:mad:
Unit453 03-23-2006, 09:10 PM I've actuallu had one on every vehicle I've ever owned. Ok, well most. The mosr noticable gas burner increase in power was my Crown Vic. It really helped out with the lack of low end beans. According to their dyno, it adds 20h.p. and 37 lb ft on a stock '98 4.6. I bought my wife one for her 04 ZR2 blazer and again, it really helped out with low end torque. She noticed an immidiate difference.
Some people apparently do not like Hypertech. I have never had a problem in several vehicles tuned. Their customer service isnt bad either.
Here's a link to their dyno charts.

SixPak 03-23-2006, 11:00 PM ... Then i smashed it on the floor and never felt so good. I now have a predator and like it a lot more.
 Been there, done that!
