same idea as pick up but almost easier depending how much fuel is in it, the square shape makes it balance on jack better. the hardest part is getting the lines off the sending unit might be pretty rusty due to your norther location. good luck. if you need a sending unit the dealer ones are pricey try to find an aftermarket. I have used several CAP sending unit. only about 100.00 bucks.

Ticki2, it's not that bad of a job, really. Run the tank to near empty if you can. If not, disconnect your fuel filter line, turn on the key and, using a hose over the tubing, pump the gas to containers. Release a couple of support bands and let the tank down. Disconnect the main fill line and the filler vent line at the rear and down she should come.

Note: you may need the little hose fitting disconnection tool to get the lines loose (main fuel and return fuel) at the top portion of the tank, top of pump and sending unit. Also, it'll take at least +7 gallons of gas back in the tank before she'll crank for you. May have been 10 gallons for the 42 gal. Suburb tank.

I just did one on Daughter's 99 Suburb and my 99 Tahoe. It helps if you have help but not really necessary. Install a new fuel filter. Good luck with it.

Just use a floor jack to support it when you are removing the straps, the lines aren't long enough to let the tank rest on the ground. The jack will help you support the tank when disconecting the lines.

Thanks guy's , got it done . couldn't believe the strap bolts came right out . The floor jack worked great . Decided to cut the line ( actually break off) because that was the real problem . The sender lines above the tank and another section along the frame where rusted and leaking . New sender and 5 ft of 5/16 and 3/8 of rubber gas line hose and the old girl is up and running . New fuel filter tomorrow.
