: Juice with Attitude at da house
GassedRacing 03-18-2004, 02:59 PM How's this for frustrating...I have a new Juice/Attitude unit sitting at my house and my wife calls to tell me it was just delivered. I'm stuck at work for at least another 5 hours.
Some questions...does the EGT probe have to be hooked up in order to run the Attitude? I wanna hook all this up tonight, but I won't have time to do the probe. I already have an autometer EGT gauge in and operational.
Has anyone ever just installed the Attitude EGT wires to their existing probe wires?
Say I wanna keep the autometer gauge and I have to install the other probe as well. Where should I install the probe? I did the autometer one in the right side manifold (Hoot's directions). Is the left side just as easy?

Max Power 03-18-2004, 03:24 PM no the probe is not required.
OC_DMAX 03-18-2004, 03:48 PM I am currently using my Juice/Attitude without the temp probe installed (have not had time to install, working a crazy number of hours at work).
You can also run just the Juice without installing the attitude (if your really anxious and want to take it for a spin). Mine defaulted to level 2 (and level 1 in Tow/Haul) without the attitude installed.

Cough, cough I think I am coming down with something. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif
GassedRacing 03-18-2004, 04:13 PM You can still set the Juice using the old Key, Shift, Gas Gas approach, right? This way I can skip the attitude until this weekend.
Max Power, yeah I wish. I just started this new job and no sick time to spare. I'll just throw my 110 tune on the truck from the quadzilla and go for broke! YEE HAW!
sdaver 03-18-2004, 04:53 PM you cant get to level 5........plug in t in lay it on the dash..........I hooked them both egts to my autometer and it worked not real sure how accurate they both were.........now one is preturbo and one is post in the downpipe..........give your tranny time to get use to the new power
turbospl311 03-18-2004, 06:07 PM Mine is here on my desk. CAme to the office today. Stopping at a friends shop and we are installing it tonight.

LBZrcks 03-18-2004, 08:07 PM According to those brown little trucks my Juice/Attitude is supposed to come in tomorrowhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
turbospl311 03-18-2004, 11:25 PM Well it's in! Took about 45 minutes to get the whole shooting match done. I mounted the bracket down in the lower cubby hole by the drivers right leg just above where I put my Brake Controller and in-cab air bag controller. Looks good!
Then got to drive home from the shop with the fifth wheel on so I couldn't play. Oh well. After the 2000 mile trip to CA.

GassedRacing 03-19-2004, 09:48 AM Mine took about 45 minutes as well. Man, why did I ever wait to get this? Holy crap! I think the best feature is the Attitude and the adjust on the fly is great. I'm so used to being locked into a Quad tune until I could stop, do the re-install dance, and start up again.
Initial impressions, much smoother. Much more power on the 4 and 5 tunes. I had already been running the Quad on Level 3 so I uninstalled that and simply downloaded a stock tune with only speed limits removed and calibration for my 295 tires.
This morning on the highway, there doesn't seem to be any major surging issue like I had with both the Quad and the Predator around 80 mph. The EGT seems to be lower (granted I was running on level 2 this morning with the Juice). It is definately quieter and more smooth overall.
I'm still debating on where to throw the attitude unit, but for now, I mounted it with Velcro just below my aftermarket stereo unit. It looks pretty cool and I didn't have to drill/modify anything (other than applying Velcro).
I want to keep this thing removable fast in case of a dealer trip, so I was hoping I could just link the EGT of the Juice to the existing EGT for my autometer gauges. Sounds like I can, although the jury is still out on how accurate either will be after the fact. What kind of wire to I need to use to hook into the existing Pyro leads? Is it normal 14 guage power wire (stranded)? Or is it something special? Is there heat (a lot of heat) across these wires?
Thanks to Chris @ Cyclone for this hookup and a great deal. Thanks to everyone here for recommending this. I'm lovin' it!
grasshopper 03-19-2004, 10:39 AM heartbeat isn't usin the edge probe, he still getss level 5.
LBZrcks 03-19-2004, 04:53 PM Got mine today!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif question though, do you have to "T" the boost line or does the attitude read the boost from the computer somehow?
Max Power 03-19-2004, 05:12 PM No T required.

Normally pyro wires are 'tuned' to a certain resistance. Since the gauges are reading off of a change in voltage, adding or removing wire changes this resistance resulting in a false reading. I would be really cautious of changing anything involving probe wire length. Best bet would be to call AutoMeter and ask. However you may be able to add the extra wire temporarily and see if it still measures the same temps in the original gauges.
