: Wheel bearing out at 50,000 mi.
66flh 02-10-2006, 08:19 PM What do you guys think?Okay, went to Albuquerque today to get my Fabtech pitman and idler arm recall taken care of.During parts change,we notice drivers side wheel has side to side wobble. At least 3/4 inch of it.!!!.Anyone have this issue with this low of miles?I know that I run 35's but I also run 255's during hunting season,so it's about equal time for both sizes. This seems like low miles to have it go out.Thank God it didn't start on fire ,I was haulin A$$ on the way!Thank you Ron @A-1 equip.for hooking me up!!And thanks to PredatorHummer for the pizza, that 5in.exhaust is SICK!!!

66flh 02-11-2006, 12:28 AM another reason for a straight axle!!!! GET A GRIP GM!!!!!! I'd buy one and I'll bet GM would sell more trucks than they could build....:exactly::exactly::exactly::exactly:
predatorhummer 02-11-2006, 12:31 AM I would buy one too and take it to Ron and have him do 20 inch lift!!! HE ROCKS on custom lifts.

Joey D 02-11-2006, 06:23 AM another reason for a straight axle!!!! GET A GRIP GM!!!!!!
Ford and Dodge use the same unit bearing design and also have problems with them. If GM went solid axle they would end up with the same dam thing.
andy666 02-11-2006, 06:46 AM 01 went out at 90,000, all it was is a loose axle nut. GM used a self locking nut insted of a crown nut and kotter pin, now I the check torque when I rotate tires. Also, check prices,395.00 at chevy,290.00 at parts store,210.00 at GMC dealer.
1dmbth 02-11-2006, 10:19 AM Mine went out on the drivers side @75k.
TheBac 02-11-2006, 02:33 PM Right side @ 45,000. Left side @ 60,000.
There should be a sticky about checking the axle nut torque. It should be part of the regular maintenence checklist.
Lonewolf867 02-11-2006, 05:20 PM 67k and my left side is out. I had a roaring in the front and had time to check it today.
Has anyone changed this themselves? How hard is it?
Mike

Mike It's about a 20 min.job.not hard at all.
epb091786 02-11-2006, 10:44 PM My left front went out at 47,000. Got a new one on my way home from work and did it about 30 mins. 8 nuts for the wheel, 2 for the caliper, 2 for the caliper bracket, 1 for the axle and 4 for the hub. Just be sure that you have a big breaker bar or stout impact because the caliper bracket bolts are a Censored to get off!
PremierLandscaping 02-12-2006, 02:49 PM My driverside hub went out at 63k miles.
I know a guy with a 99 f450, and it only has 90k miles, and he's had to replace the front driver and passenger side hubgs twice, and both sides in the rear once.
I guess chevy uses a better supplier for their hubs or make them in-house :)
PremierLandscaping 02-12-2006, 02:50 PM ecause the caliper bracket bolts are a Censored to get off!
Glad im not the only one that thought that. When I replaced my rear disc's they were hard too. Damn machines really tighten that stuff up at the factory.

Its the Lock-Tight stuff that they put on those. -:t
chaseum 02-12-2006, 04:28 PM anyone want a front right hub assy? The weekend I saved to replace the hub I drove from ga to al. Well when we finally got to al. it went out. I can't find the reciept. They should take it back at the shop but if anyone wants the rf. I can give them a decent deal on it.
