Hey there.

I'm confused. The Allison Website's 1000 Series specs are a little confusing on maximum HP/Torque ratings. For example, the "Net Input HP" is listed as 340 and "Net Input Torque" is 520. But then they also list something called "Net Turbine Torque" as 850. Would the turbine torque be higher because turbines are supposed to be contant speed/power?

You guys can ridicule me if you like, but I have a really DUMB question: Are these numbers the maximum power and torque that we can "safely" (wink wink) put into our trannys? If so, does everyone who has a QuadZilla, HyperTech, Edge w/Attitude, etc ALSO have to to transmission mods if they exceed 340/520? Could a rookie like me get a HyperTech and not have to worry with tranny upgrades so long as I monitor the tranny temp? I'm trying to learn here, guys, so please be gentle.

Allison recomends maximum torque and HP ratings you listed above ...

Most individuals running stacked or the bigger tunes either have or will find themselves upgrading their transmission not only to hold the power but get it to the ground ...

A single HP enhancer 90 HP and under used without malice should give a long trouble free service life to the Allison ...

Transmission temp is no true way to measure tranny slip ... Transmissions will run temp wise according to ambient temps among other things such as driving conditions and when towing ... If your transmission sees higher then normal temp under normal driving conditions then a problem exsist ... In most cases damage was done or is already done ...

Moderation is the key ....

Thanks Mackin. I sincerely appreciate it.

So, in reference to transmission slip, if I had a 90HP tune or less, I could run in T/H mode and minimize transmission slip and therefore tranny woes. Is that true?Edited by: CStone
