I have 4 smooth door handles, 4 smooth fender flares, a painted tailgate handle/bezel from an SS and a set of the mirror covers. Everything is already painted white from the factory except for the flares which are silver birch. I will be dropping all of the parts off at the paint shop so all they will have to do it prep and paint. I got 1 quote from a place local here in Savannah and they wanted a little over $1000 for it. Seemed like they were raping me but I figure they just dont want to do the job. Any smart paint people??

Ugh, that sounds high to me...Those parts should take at the most a quart of paint to cover...4 to 5 hunded I could see, but 1K is a bit much..

If they get that much for painting a few loose parts, I need to charge a lot more for refinish jobs...:)

"..... they wanted a little over $1000 for it."

They sure ain't doing you any favors are they? I'd think a hundred bucks, ($200 max) to spray those few parts would be plenty.

For my new ordered truck I'm figuring $300 to prep, paint, install flares (red is the most expensive paint) a few small parts and pull off the b/s mouldings.

I think that is fair...:)

Bend over and say hello! $75 - $100 for the paint, $100 for labor.

I just had my dads truck at the paint shop for same thing and we spent $500.00. That was for bumper pads (front and rear), handles (5 ea.), and mirrors. His came with painted flairs from the factory. The shop did all the removal, prep and paint.

Because you have already removed the parts, $350 would be fair, jmo.

I found a good painter that will do it on the side for $300. The problem with moving around alot is you dont know everyone in town and who is good. This guy is the head painter at the dealer.

here in NY body labor is at $48-50 per hour with paint materials figered at $18-20 extra per paint hr. I'd go back to doing body work full time if I could get jobs like that for a grand:) Be buying a new truck in no time!!
