Anyone know of a good tech in the central to north Orange County Area? I have some leakage on the tranny lines going into the Allison and the starter doesn't always engage.

Several of us know of a good one in the Chino area.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif On edit, since your under warranty, you will need to see a GMC dealership. ( I was thinking about a Chevrolet truck, sorry). Edited by: OC_DMAX

I know one NOT to go to. If you do, you will never get your truck back!

Maybe this is a better question.

What should I ask to see if they have anyone qualified or are all the dealers supposed to have one?

Thanks for the input.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

This is my opinion: I would take your truck to a dealership that sells a lot of commercial GMC trucks. Look in the Yellow pages for dealerships and see which ones in OC are selling to the commercial market. These types of dealerships are more likely to have a staff of qualified mechanics who understand our trucks.

My local GMC dealership has a trophy case that contains all of the training documents and certifications for all of the service techs who work there. That doesn't necessarily mean that they will do good work, but at least they have been trained.

I would ask your dealership SM to see the service tech's ASE or GM training certificates for Allison transmissions. If they won't show you, then find another dealership.

I have on 03 dmax that had the same problem. Check the nut that holds the leads from the battery directly on your starter. The nut was sitting in the frame rail on mine, and sometimes the truck would start, sometimes the truck would just click.
