Thought I read last week you were going to be putting a Mag-Hytec thansmission pan on your truck soon -like last week end.

Very interested in how it went and your you like the pan. Seriously thinking about getting one before I change out my fluid to synthetic. Don't really need one but I was going to use the Allison deep pan to get a little more fluid and thought the Mag-Hytec unit might be better ("Anything Worth Doing Is Wotrth Over Doing!") If you have it installed have you seen any differences or does it just increase the "Cool" factor of your truck and allow you to spend large sums of money on your rig?? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

I too would be intresred in everyone thoughts on the Mag-Hytec trans pan. While it is a good looker, how functional has it proved to be? Is the overall trans temps running somewhat lower, or are there any noticable differences beyond a larger safety margin....

Lastly, is it worth the cost.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif, as opposed to the Allison pan.Thoughts, opinions and comments,

Thanks, Sir-Col

BUMP TTT I am interested in well. I have never had my tranny temps get close to 260 but would still rather be safe than sorry.

I have AUX tranny gauge already installed .... I will be panhandeling my deep pan with "bung" ready to except a gauge sender also ...

Did you weld or use some type of compression fitting for the bung on the deep pan? I was going to do the same thing, just not sure which location to mount it on the deep pan. Didn't want to get one welded on and find out the screw-in sender intereferred with the innards of the tranny somehow.

Weld

It's on the drivers side mid pan .... The Mag-Hytec is prepped for a gauge install .... I'll have to get some fittings I'm sure ...

Price for the Pan Mac?

Just asking. I heard that the deep pan extends below the frame member. Is that true?

I paid $230 delivered ......

Hang down past the frame member ?? Hangs lower yes but not much more where it concerns me .... Past frame rail ,nah ..... I believe the shallow is lower then the cross member ...

Mack is correct, pan does not hang lower than crossmember. It is a looker, it holds a lot more fluid. Does it work? I would get castrated if i answered that.

I had mine installed tonight, we'll see if there additional bennys. Towing a heavy trailer tomorrow. Did the diff too. Darn dipsticks are magnetic too, watch that little allen wrench just in case it were to get stuck to that dipstick. ARRGGHHH!!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Angry.gif The magnet in the bottom of the pan is damn strong. Thanks to Patrick for all his time and help.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Mike L You dodged the question - how well does the Mag-Hytec pan work?

Which pan did you have on your truck before the Mag-Hytec - stock shallow or the deep Allison pan? Any noticable drop in temperature? If so how much? Are you using the factory termperature gage or did you install an additional gage in the boss in the pan?

Questions, questions, questions- Inquiring minds want to know!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

I am running the PML pan for testing right now. I have a Mag pan also that i tested. I have tested the accuracy of our trans temp guage with a Tech 1 and found them to be right on. I have seen no difference in temps with the extra fluid in either pan although i do not tow with my truck. I think the pans might help a little in the long run but not much. My Alli. still heats up in stop and go traffic probably cause we are running high pressure at idle. That is one of the main things that was addressed by the '04 Ally with the "G" solenoid in the models that have them activated.

I believe the new LLY comes with a deeper pan. The extra volume should help when towing. My son just bought a new LLY Duramax. I will get a couple photos of both pans. Later! Frank

The LLY does not come with a deep pan. Someone posted this b/s and it is not true.
