I got my hot juice today from ebay. At least I guess it's hot because it has written in magic marker on the serno cag HOT. Since my truck how has a whopping 500 miles on it and I need to make sure my purchase worked I had best try it. Well it definatly adds some balls. When I installed it I tried setting it to level 2 but when I would check it it kept reving 3 times. So what the hell, after a few trys I took it out for a spin. Got some black smoke as layed into the throttle from a rolling start, felt it jerk/buck as it shifted then set me back again. I pulled over and set it to level 4, great power, tons of smoke, trys to burn the tires but it feels like there is traction control on it or something like that. I tooled around tow going over to the garden store, playing the whole way. And I am impressed with the power but disappointed in the way the truck acts or takes it. I know that is must be defueling as the tranny shifts but this feels abnomal, almost jerking the entire truck. I just plain wouldn't go away, so a few hours later (and more fuel than I have used in a day so far) I pulled it out, expecally after 4 failed attempts of setting it to level 2 wouldn't take. My guess is that the defuel option is ticking me off and what I must need is the attitude. I don't wan't the hot with attiude as I don't think I could restrain myself from running on level 5 all the time.

One more thing for you pro's. How can one open that damm clamp over the harness. I didn't want to maul it up so it looked like I have been messing around with it. I have never seen a clamp like that sucker before.

Is this just me or what? I had way more fun after I pulled it out when I had to make a hole in traffic while leaving the gas station.

Perhaps I will be returning it to ebay and try to recoup my cash.

I thought u had to let the tranny adapt to the power and your problems might go away.

You have to allow the Allison to adapt to the additional torque ....

Set it at level one or two and allow it to shift thru different throttle position during take offs ... It needs to shift thru the gears just driving it around in OD does nothing for learning ...

The defuel is the natural condition with the Allison the Attitude will minimize but without tranny mods the higher HP tunes wont be fully enjoyed ...

The Allison isn't your typical transmission is electtronically controlled for torque managment ,give it some time ...

The connectors under the hood ,if this is what your reffering to,have ears you squeeze in to unlock so the bale will swing up pushing the connection apart ... The big baler could be a bit tight some have opened the wire clip holder for slack ...

I have a v4.61 HOT with no Attitude..........It rocks !!!!

I have an Attitude, but may or may not update it, have to do some straight up comparisons first.

Tranny learn in is all you need man, give it a day or two of driving, then post your thoughts on that hot box, your issues will dwindle over time and you will continue to grin!!!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

As I normally do, my break in was probably a bit of an over kill. I drove mine around in Level 1 for 100 miles, Level 2 for 100, etc all the way up to level 5. Since I drive 75 miles a day back and forth to work it didnt take long.

I could feel the Tranny learning as it went along. I also drove at least half of those 100 mile break in's in Tow/Haul mode.

After I felt the tranny could handle the extra power, I removed the defuel from 1,2,3 and it seems to handle WOT with only the tires complaining.

My Allison seem to take a minimum of a full week before all the different throttle positions shift smooth. Patience is a virtue.

i as well tried the hot juice, thought their was a problem with the unit and then replaced with another, still had major defueling, and problems with changing tunes as well, my two cents would be, i was not impressed with the juice at all, and do not run it now, also was the most moneyhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Ok, I can try putting it back in for a while and letting it adjust.

How do I set the settings though, seems no matter what I tried it would only set to level 3 or 4. I put the selector in 1 pressed the accellerator pedal 3 times and when I checked it it reved 3 times, I also tried setting it to level 2 and the same thing, it reved 3 times. Should I only press the pedal to the level I want it set to?

Mine was sad before the tranny broke in. Then it was great.

Now its broken (edge) and im going to send it back.

I must admit the edge people were the best to deal with (unlike uni a-holes) they didnt blame it on me.

65Bowtie,

I had the same problem with the regular juice. 3 revs every time. Then I rechecked the instructions and tried cycling the tow/haul button to t/h and back to regular mode, checked the setting and got the 2 revs I was looking for. Have you tried programming the settings, starting the truck, cycling the t/h switch, then verifying the setting?

download the manual, if i remember right the GEAR you put it in sets the level ,not the number of pedal taps........

It says nothing about mannies. You probably have to get the attitude to change the settings if you have a handshaker.

If you have a manual trans and no attitude, you need to put it in an Allison equipped truck to set it.

FOr Allison trans: you put it in Reverse for level 0, 1st for level 1, 2nd for level 2 and so on until Drive for level 4. Let's say you want to set it at level 4 in Tow/Haul and level 2 in Regular mode. You would put the trans in 2nd with the key on but the truck NOT running, push the accelerator pedal down fully 2 times (slowly). Then shift to drive, put it in tow/haul mode and push the accelerator pedal down fully 2 times again. Now cycle the tow/haul mode a few times. Turn the key to off. Start the truck, cycle the tow/haul mode a few times. You should now be able to test where the levels are set by setting the park brake, open the door so you can hear the blips, put trans in park, go to reverse, neutral, reverse, then park. It will blip the throttle 2 times for level 2. Now put it in tow/haul mode and do the PRNRP procedure again, this time it should blip the throttle 4 times to indicate level 4 in T/H mode.

I've found the trick to success is to cycle T/H mode a few times as stated above. Works perfectly every time for me.
