dbierman 02-03-2006, 09:10 PM I should have my income tax return in about a week and I'm gonna do all my mods at once. I want to do the Edge J/A, dual 5" stacks, Air intake, finger stick, boost stick and egr block off. Should be a big change.
Any suggestions from the pros?
Horsepower Upgrades 02-03-2006, 10:18 PM Looks like you have it all figured out. Sounds like a good start to some great improvements.
If you dont get the Attitude I would strongly suggest installing a gauge package first or along with the other mods to keep an eye on your performance so nothing will go POP!
dbierman 02-04-2006, 12:56 PM Yes I forgot that, i'm looking at a two pod gauge set on jegs. Has anyone tried the downpipe installation yet?
Unit453 02-04-2006, 01:29 PM Dual 5" stacks?
dbierman 02-04-2006, 02:09 PM Dual 5" stacks?Yep..
Unit453 02-04-2006, 05:07 PM Cant say as I ever saw dual 5" stacks. I would think it'd be a bit overkill as far as the exhaust breathing..Not trying to shoot you down by any means. I'd love to see pics of a set up.

Same here.
DMAXNAZ 02-04-2006, 05:24 PM Can you add gauges without voiding your warranty?
screaminjlew 02-04-2006, 06:53 PM Can you add gauges without voiding your warranty?
I asked my dealer the same question and, he told me that what I was doing was fine and would not void my warranty. He said that all I was trying to do is monitor engine functions and that would not void warrenty. I then asked him if I drill the manifold and IC pipe to install the sending unit for the gauges and he said that those items, if a problem was to arise with the manifold or IC pipe that they would probably not be covered but, he also said that it would have to be a problem associated with like sucking cold air if the drilling & tapping was not done correctly.
hope this helps,

Here is a pic of dual 6" stacks, a little big for me so I am going for the 5" ones.

edge with J/A is Juice with Attitude and if you are getting a lot of money i would get a suncoast trans before everything and then ad power and all the power you want
I wish I could afford the tranny upgrade, I just wont be able to hammer it too hard until I can do something with it.
DIESELMAN75 02-05-2006, 12:40 AM I wish I could afford the tranny upgrade, I just wont be able to hammer it too hard until I can do something with it.
i think everyone the doesn't have a tranny upgrade wishes they had one and you can hammer it but just not on level 5 try level 3 and you should be fine but in the end start saving for a trans so you can ad as much power as you want and for a trans it is SUNCOAST all the way
lakingslayer 02-05-2006, 12:48 AM I wish I could afford the tranny upgrade, I just wont be able to hammer it too hard until I can do something with it.
Sounds familiar):h

I actually have noticed that I dont drive any "harder" now that I have the suncoast... I still just cant bring myself to really beat on the truck even tho I know the trans will take it. With that being said, I drive exactly the same as I did before, but now im running a much hotter tune...now with the same drving habits, I go faster:D
dbierman2001 that sounds like a good setup...personally I would not bother with the intake. On diesel's it has not really proven itself to be worth the $$$. I bought mine used so I got a good deal on it...I made a point not to pay full price for one. If I had not found the used one, I probably will still be running the stock intake right now...

Thanks. I think this is going to be my first mod on myway to tuning.

if i had a trans i would not go and beat on it either i would just run a hotter tune like you do and drive it the same as always but the good part about having a trans is when you want to romp on it hard you can and you dont really have to worry about it
Unit453 02-05-2006, 01:35 PM 6" stacks are too big...IMO. Maybe 5's wouldnt look bad. I saw dual 4" stacks on an F-150 a few weeks ago and it looked gay. I wanted to ask the dude what the hell was going through his mind but I didnt wanna be rude.
dbierman 02-05-2006, 03:14 PM Yeah I think the 4's are too small for the look I want.
DIESELMAN75 02-05-2006, 03:49 PM if i was you i would not even put stacks on your truck but if you like them that much to put big holes in your bed go for it but the regular exhaust looks the best and even the duels look good but i'm not to into the stacks.
if i may ask why do you want them so much
coyotekid 02-05-2006, 03:53 PM That's not exactly the order I'd go in...
I'd get gauges first, then a trans upgrade unless you only want ~50 extra RWHP.
sammxer 02-05-2006, 03:54 PM I wanna see pics of the stacks.......................
dbierman 02-05-2006, 03:57 PM I wanna see pics of the stacks.......................
Look at these, they are 6" though.

dbierman 02-05-2006, 03:58 PM That's not exactly the order I'd go in...
I'd get gauges first, then a trans upgrade unless you only want ~50 extra RWHP.The trans upgrade wont be any benifit to me if I dont get the extra horsepower. So I will get the extra horsepower and then worry about the tranny.
I am getting everything at one time except the trans upgrade. I just don't have an extra 4 or 5 grand sitting around to spend for something I may never need. (unlike some people who "HAVE" actually got money to burn.
DIESELMAN75 02-05-2006, 05:16 PM i think it is better to do the trans then add power because that way you wont have any problems down the road and it is easier to save for the egde than it is for a trans try saving 1k and then saving 3k for a trans it is way easier to save for a programer than a trans
duramaxdavid 02-05-2006, 07:18 PM aaawww if i only got tax $$ back. I end up paying every year. I think im going with 6" stacks. I would mess with the intake.
Duratys 02-05-2006, 07:29 PM If i could do it all over again i would go with a Stage III Suncoast and a converter before you limp your tranny and have to get a stage IV or V. This will save you money in the long run. Second hand tuners are allover the place and can be had relatively cheap. Saying you wont bump the Edge to level 5 might sound good now untill you get beat in a race or want to shut that neighbour up that thinks his Powerstroke is the best thing since sliced bread :D You might get away with it for a bit but once the trans goes into limp mode once your looking at a Stage IV minimum to fix it correctly.
You guys need a trans!!! (http://video.dieselplace.com/Player.aspx?fileid=0353D3C9-D441-4574-9349-A479475A04AB)
DIESELMAN75 02-06-2006, 11:33 AM what was that about bobo do you have a trans or did you limp it at the end could not tell
DIESELMAN75 02-06-2006, 01:00 PM why do some of you guys want to run stacks just for the looks or what because if it is for looks you should look at something else other than stacks
dbierman 02-06-2006, 01:12 PM why do some of you guys want to run stacks just for the looks or what because if it is for looks you should look at something else other than stacks You know opinions are like a**holes...everyone has one and they all "stink". ;)
DIESELMAN75 02-06-2006, 01:37 PM so what is the reason that you want the stacks dbierman2001
dbierman 02-06-2006, 01:39 PM You're awful nosey...
Wasted Income 02-06-2006, 04:23 PM You're awful nosey...
ON EDIT: Oops, I thought that said "noisey", either way...
DIESELMAN75 02-07-2006, 12:22 AM You're awful nosey...
i just want to know why stacks over a regular exhaust if that is being awful nosey then i am because i like to see what you guys see in them that i dont so i can understand where they are comming from
dbierman 02-07-2006, 12:52 AM i just want to know why stacks over a regular exhaust if that is being awful nosey then i am because i like to see what you guys see in them that i dont so i can understand where they are comming from Sorry dieselman if I took your question wrong it just seemed a little pushy the way you asked.
I want them because I like the way they look, 5" miter cut just a couple inches above the cab, I dont particularly like the ones that are sticking up way above the cab. I may even go with the 4" miter cut ones but I didn't like the 4" turn outs. I wish I could see some 4" miter cut ones to make a comparison. I can always go back to the single exhaust if I decide I dont like the stacks.
Anyway sorry for the snappy retort.
Friends?

no problem but thanks for answering my question
what was that about bobo do you have a trans or did you limp it at the end could not tell
:funnypost No limp here.
This is my sig. It is on the bottom of each and every post I make. It says Al-ienator Transmission 5 lines down. Thanks for looking.):h
Special Thanks to:
HUCKSTORF DIESEL
Merchant Automotive
EFILive
JakeGMCHD for my Al-ienator Transmission and my AMS OIL!!
NoDmax--I think you blew up my motor!!
Billy17--Has worked on my truck more than I have!!
msrasmussen 02-07-2006, 09:18 PM I went the route you are going, power first then trans later, thinking " I just won't hammer it". Yeah right. Even with only about a 60 hp gain and "not Hammering it" I burned up the clutches in my tranny in less then a month. Yeah the tranny upgrade is expensive, but its alot better to save for it and do it on your own time then to limp yours and have to come up with the cash or don't drive your truck at all. Go for the exhaust, intake, air filter etc but save the tuner till after you do your tranny, otherwise you may end up doing it alot sooner then you think. Just some advise from someone who was just there and doesn't have money to burn.
schmibm 02-08-2006, 08:53 PM Stacks for sure...
dbierman 02-14-2006, 05:43 AM The MBRP front pipe came today thanks to Mark of DPP, also the finger stick, boost stick and egr block off plate from Kennedy.
Patiently awaiting the rest to arrive.
dbierman 02-16-2006, 10:17 AM Got the pillar mount, gauges and VHT paint/primer yesterday.
I will list the VHT paint/primer for sale in the for sale section, I only used enough of each to put on two coats and wont be needing it anymore.
