Just bought and recieved a heated racor fuel filter from Greg Landuyt at Lubrication specialist. The kit looks good but there were no instructions on or where to hook up the heater. Two pink wires on the heater and some kind of relay(?) came with the kit that has a red, white, blue, yellow and black wires on it. I emailed Greg direct a number of times and more than a week ago Gregs only email said "I will draw up a simple diagram for you." Have not heard anything since. You have to remember sometimes it's assumed the buyers have a certain amount of knowledge with just the fact that they bought the product. Your truck already has a heater on the OEM filter. I assume you will be using that circuit to "fire" the relay on the new filter heater. That way you are using existing temp control already in place. Both heaters will come on at the same time. The reason for the relay is so you run a seperate fused power source and use the OEM circuit as a "signal" to turn the new heater on.

Thanks for the encouragment. But I still do not have a clue what wire to hook to what. Also I'm not knocking Greg or his product but I just want to get it all hooked up. Been sitting here for more than a week now.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Unhappy.gif Just my luck that Greg is probably sitting on a tropical beach somewhere on a much needed vacation sippin one of those umbrella drinks. Here in the mountains it is already getting in the teens at night.

The Racor filter has a built-in thermostat that I believe is set to operate when the fuel is below 40 degrees. You can hook one wire directly to any "switched 12V" source (there are several places in the under hood fuse box I believe) so that when the key is on power is supplied to the filter. The other wire to a ground. The heater draws 20 amps so a 30 amp fuse should be in the line. Can use a relay but not really required.

I've got a few emails into Greg myself, and still waiting for a reply. I received one reply, but the text of the reply was completely off topic, and obviously meant for someone else. I'm assuming he's just really busy, although he has been posting regularly on the dieselpage. You might try calling him. I've called him before, and he is very pleasent to deal with.
