I recently installed an AFE stage 2 kit, before I did this my boost would run up to 35psi now only 31? Is the stock filter and box better?

I woudlnt worry about it...35 PSI is too much for the VVT anyway. Above 32-33 it becomes hugely innefficent.

So was the aftermarket coin a wasted?

Pretty much, if you weren't pulling the restriction thingy after making a few hard runs, you really didn't need more air. I went with the AFE because I thought it would be better too....I did it for more turbo whistle too. You probably don't want to go much over 30 PSI anyway. Things tend to go kaboom up in that range....you are playing with fire.

Did you do anything else to the truck? Where is your boost measured?

Banks six-gun with the power pda, Monster exhaust .I don't know how accurate the electronic gauge is? I'm new to deisel's but if the thermo couple only measures egt ? Than is the pda pulling the info from the OBDll port?

OK the whole picture now! So you went from 35 psi (on a gauge) to 31 psi, with these mods, correct?

Todd you need to put a signature at the bottom of your page so people know what type of engine you have!!! List year, model, up-grades,, ect...On the left side of the page you'll see ( edit signature ). click on it and ad your sig.. You don't really want to go over say30-32 psi on an lb7!! I think you can get like 35-40 out of an lly but I don't think it does real well.. there's alot of great people on this site to help ya on anything!! Good luck

Let's put the stock airbox back in, clean the maf sensor with alcohol, it can get oil on it. It is possible the MAF signal is not correct.

Didn't the Banks kit come with a filter? Did you use that one first? I'm still don't know where your getting your boost reading, from the PDA or a seperate gauge.

The pda has boost psi ,egt ,% power ,trans slip ,mph and a couple other different readings on it. I have to buy another stock filter to put the box back but I will clean the MAF.As far as the banks stuff I purchased it all at different times, I thought the afe would be better because of their "CFM claims"Hp increase throttle response.

The CAI after-market is very misleading. I hear of more problems with intakes than stories of any gains.
