: Which programmer?

Just curious. I want to run a programmer now and nothing else at this time. So I am trying to find out which one is the best out there with features, settings, preformance mods, etc. I will later be adding the Banks Six Gun, but for now just want a little more get up and go. If you choose other in the poll, please leave comments. Thanks

I use the HyperTech and use level 3 when I a not towing anything. They said this, "....part number #30021 for the 2001-2004 GM 6.6L Duramax......+90 horsepower and +150 ft-lbs. of torque for the Duramax!" Also, there is a option for tire size incase you put bigger tires on. Cost: $315-$340...shop around!

Later!

The hypertech is nice, but I don't think it's worth the amount of money you put into it. Better off going Banks or something else.

I would recommend the Quadzilla anyway, but since you live in Houston I would definitely go with the Quad -- they're just a few hours up I-45 from you!

Well location is not an issue, but thanks for pointing that out. I want people who are running these products to speak up. I need to know about HP increase, lag issues in turbo spool, shifting, etc. I do not want to spend the money to buy something that is junk and then have to try to resell it and then buy something else.

If you are looking for performance differences and driveability issues then search and browse this forum -- it's *all* here.

Location is a big issue -- that's why I mentioned it. Even if you never have a single problem you will likely want to have your tuner updated to the latest/greatest tunes from time to time. You may even decide that you would like some custom tunes to suit your preferences. Having your truck onsite makes all of these things alot easier.

I asked the same question when I bought my 03 and the consensus I got at the time was the Quad or the Juice. I chose the Quad 110 which had 50-70-90-110hp tunes. Besides receiving great service from Quad I have been very happy with the tuner. I had it upgraded to the 165 which gave me 70-110-135-165 tunes and most recently got the free tune updates for the 70-110-135 tunes. I would get the 215 and stack as many others have but can't really justify the tranny upgrade at this point. I run at 135 everyday and just love it. I've run the 70 & 110 for extended periods too but like most others want all I can get but don't want to hurt alli.

Good luck! Enjoy!

TTS or the juice..............TTS is an installed tune while the Juice is a add on box.........or you can run both (with an upgraded allison) I had the quad......the predator....the tst comp......the quad was noisey and surged the predator was a POS tune wise (although they have improved so Im told) the tst bursted on upper levels.......I have driven the hypertech and it lacks in everything.......ditto the superchips. Im currently running a combination of tts's ecm, the juice attitude and a duramaximiser with propane injection. The TTS extreme is the largest single program I have run on my truck out performing others by 15 rwhp and 100ftlbs of torque

How are you running the 135 tune with out hurting the trans.

Gmc2500

The pup is easy to program and has good tork, I am not into the racing so this tunner works very well for me although I have a 3500 dually and it will turn the tires off the corner. It took my trans a while to adjust to it but does very well now. Hope this helpes.

Juice/attitude, not using the monitor yet, still trying to decide whether I should work on something to make it a qd for easy removability if need arises to take to dealership or just add some gauges. I found a really good price on the combo, so I went for it. I have only used settings 1, 2, & 3. I only ran level 3 for a couple of days since I have no pyro. I mainly purchased it to hold overdrive when towing and level 1 takes care of that in t/h mode. Level 2 in regular mode. I purchased a quad 110 also. I haven't tried it yet. I really only purchased it for tire size calibration when I change them and DTC retrieval and deletion.

I have only used the Superchip and the Juice/attitude. The Superchip is a great budget box (under $300) and the Juice just rocks!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I have the power pup and very happy with it,it puts out very little smoke under hard acceleration and I have no surging problems.

I also plan to get the 6 gun and banks exhaust, hopefully in a couple of mounts.

I have the BUlly Dog.. Only thing I notice about it is that the shifts are harder. It doesnt slip, just shifts hard into 5th... Also has anyone done the 150hp power pup on a stock allison, and a stock truck. No other mods except for the programmer. Also what are people running in the 1/4 with the Power Pup on 90hp and on 150hp.

I have a Predator that I have run for over a year with all kinds of tunes, even some custom. I found that it is killing my highway mileage by 2 mpg and the city by 1 mpg. I went to the stock tune with tire adjust and have ordered the Juice/Attitude as most people report some mpg increase depending of foot weight. I really like the ability of the Predator to see injector balances and oil life (No DIC http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif). From a monitoring and trouble shooting standpoint it's great. I have had the tire cal drop out on me and have had to reload it. Someone said you should adjust the parameters up and down everytime and that will stop that issue. I have not confirmed that yet. If the tunes were at least a break even on mpg, I would not have gotten the J/A. I like the throttle response the Pred gives and the power. I know I can get more power out of the J/A and since I have the Pred already, I can still adjust for my tires on the actual speedometer. The J/A also protects the tranny better than the Pred. I think the J/A and Predator compliment each other in the different things they do well. It's just a shame you can't get one product that will do it all. Oh, well, it's only money. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Well I found a place here in Houston that is going to install all my gauges and pillar (painted exaclty to match) and the price is not bad at all. They are also going to allow me to try several different programmers and boxes till I figure out which one I like. That is going to be cool. I had also been talking to another member about transmission stuff and the price they quoted me to do my stuff was way less and they said they are using all the same stuff. Interesting. Oh and cheaper if I pay with cash money. NICE!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Ok so I have been reading over things on the different pages for the programmers and now I am all confused again. Talked to a guy at a local shop who said that Hypertech was the way to go and now a few others are saying Predator. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Confused.

I am going to install gauges next week and going to straight pipe it this weekend (not going bigger, just cutting it out). So if that goes well, Predator has a 120HP setting on their programmer, can I run that without tearing anything up? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

The only thing the Predator is good for is throwing codes in higher tunes & using as a scanner to remove the codes it throws.Although zero tune & used to recalibrate for tire size /remove speed limiter & stacked with a Hot Juice is nice.

On edit:The Pred is VIN locked to your truck once inatalled...that sucks.Edited by: Bullseye54

There is a way around the VIN lock issues. We figured that out along time ago. The cost is about $100 but it is possible.

Well I have decided to run Juice/Attitude along with a Predator (to remove codes and speed limiter). Should have gauges and Edge/Predator installed sometime next month. Also going to get the overhead console piece to install the monitor up there. Should be a nice combo with the Cobalt gauges that I am going to run. Thanks for all the help and advice.

Hey Peanut, thanks man if you read this...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

GMC2500HD How do you get around the vin lock in,without sending it back to Diablo & paying.

GMC2500HD

It is a jedi secret, if I told then I would have to kill you.

No you have to sent them back. All you have to do is tell them that you sold the truck, wrecked it, stolen, etc and sometimes they will do it for free. All they have to do is hook it up to a computer and reflash it and they try to charge 100 bucks for this. If I can get my buddy who is a programmer to figure this out then I will see what I can do. We are working on it now.
