6000 miles on my D-Max and I had to change the shocks. I can't belive how bad the factory shocks are. I kept reading that on this site but just couldn't belive they could be that bad. Put a set of Bilsteins on will find out tomorrow what a diff. they make. I used the org.spacers and rubbers on the front shocks, is that what you guys are doing? The ones that come with the new shocks had no steel spacer for the center hole in their rubber.

bborc,

That was the only good thing about the original shocks (the rubbers & spacer on the front). I did the same thing, only I got rid of mine at 1000 miles. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

I didn't use any of the original hardware on mine. The bushings were all torn up after only 12000 miles. The shocks made a huge difference though.

I also used the Bilstein parts to mount the shocks... The shocks make the biggest and best difference!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif..........Triffid

I just replaced my shocks with Bilsteins at 2600 miles. With a 3000 lb load the truck bounced up and down 3 or 4 times at each bump. The rear shocks were shot, the fronts only fair.

This apparently is GM's idea of professional grade trucks.

To me, it's much less than I expected from a $45000 truck.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif

Anything is going to be better than the factory shocks. I put a set of Edelbrocks on my HD a few weeks back, and what a difference indeed.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif
