dude, you need to add some info to your signature. People will help you , but you have to give them more information. What year and model, what engine and trans etc..:Nothing_f

Doesn't matter which tranny it is, both will allow removal of the T-Case without removing the Torsion bar cross member. :D

GM made it very simple to remove the T case and Allison.SIMPLEST removal I have seen.

The only cross brace that you need to remove contains the transmission mount.Make sure you support the transmission before removing.

Pull the t-case straight back off the studs, spin the front output portion towards the front of the truck then drop front output down between trans and torsion bar crossmember. Comes right out. Good luck.

I hope you have a good trans jack. Not some converter floor jack. Allison is a heavy SOB

also i'd drain the transfer case. chanses are it hasnt yet and now is a good time to get some fresh fluid in it and if you dont it will pee all over you durring removal.

Also the allison is a tall trans.....gota get the truck up high or it can be a PITA to get the trans in/out.

HAve a few buds on hand, makes life easier/safer

Yeah I've been told about the weight, did'nt think about the fluid drain though thanks.. It's gonna be on a lift, gotta good Trans jack.I just decided to do this myself instead of paying this guy a grand to r@r it!! I felt he was trying to f me dry.!! Do I need to pull the trans pan, or just leave it on? I figured if i pull the pan then I'm gonna have to pull the valve body also, don't really want to go their.. Also is the Gm deep pan sufficiant or do i need to buy 300 dollar bd pan?

pfffft....A guy has a purple trans and is calling me a pusy?! He is just lucky I dont live closer. :ninja:

Leave the pan on when you drop the trans. Get a deep allison pan(or the stock one, its cheap and make sure you get the internal filter for it too) Drain it too since it wll need to be drained anyway and it will keep from sloshing outa the dipstick hole.

Exact weight depends if its full of fluid and with or without the converter. Either way it aint like stuffing no TH350
