Hello this forum is great. I just purchased a 85 sub with a 6.2l and 190k on it for 650 bucks what can i say I couldnt pass it up. This is the first diesel I have ever owned and I am trying to get through the parinoia stage (that all new diesel owners seem to go through) of all the new noises and related issues. I have to admit for some strange reason I like the sound that comes from the engine. So after reading some informative posts I am going to do a compression test to start with to see exactly what kind of shape this thing is in and go from there. Cold starts are a pain but once the things warm it runs great. So thanks for all the great info.

Welcome! Sounds kind of like my truck, only mine didn't run when I got it. The folks on the 6.2L forum are very helpful, and if you have questions they will answer them. Sometimes it is a little slow (there aren't all that many 6.2-crazy guys out there) but you will get the answer you need.

Don't worry to much about the wierd noises. These things make all kinds of funny sounds. So long as it doesn't smoke (blue or white, black is o.k.) it is in good shape. Even if it smokes, it's not hard to fix.
