I am planning on doing a SFA conversion on my truck and will not be retaining the ABS. My question, is their any way to compleatly disable it? I know that its going to freak out on me because the front will be disconected and I would like to just do the same in the rear and run no ABS. Not a big deal to me, learned how to drive in the snow in a 1984 Suburban, never had ABS till this truck and I DONT like it -:t .

I've been thinking about disabling mine too. If my light doesn't go off when I replace my hub, I just might.
I did it on my 95 with no problem, but on the newer ones, the Parking Brake light comes on with the ABS light. You could pull the ABS fuse and then take the bulb out of the dash for ABS, but I believe the Parking Brake light will still stay on. I'd hate to take that one out because I tend to forget I have it on alot when I'm pulling up boat ramps.
I hope someone can shed some light.

Having the lights come on on the dash is the least of my worries. Im just not sure how the ABS ties into other functions in the computer if it does?

I disabled my abs, now I love it especially in the mud and snow. I dont know how many times I couldnt stop on the Ice and other off road conditions. I have an all manual truck, I disconected a fuse in the dash and under the hood, and that was it. The abs light stays on but thats not that big of a deal. It didnt effect any thing else (electrical) but I did hear that the cruise(which I dont have) runs through the same fuse, so it might effect that. maybe some one else will know? Good luck.

I pulled the 60 amp fuse under the hood and it disabled it, I still have cruise control but when I start the truck the dinger goes off for like 20 secs and its really anoying. I am going to have to find another way to disable it. Anyone have any ideas?

this is my question to. if you pull the 60 amp and the 10 amp fuse for the ABS you will lose only ABS function and nothing else? i pulled the 10 fuse and the light still came on and the chime did to. just want to disable mine till i get the funds to fix it right.

I only pulled my 60 amp and it disabled it compleatly. I was able to lock up all 4 on the freeway (at night but do not try it if you have never locked it up at speed on the freeway before!!!!!). I locked up the rears coming to a traffic light and was able to slide down my drive way locked up when it was covered with snow. I am going to have to fix mine correctly when I SFA my truck because I really do not want to hear that chime when ever I start my truck!

There is no way to disable the ABS and have it not chime or warn you...you'll either have to live with the ABS or live with the chime and dash light.
As far as disabling it, just pull the fuse...it shouldnt bother anything else. You'll get the chime tho.
and be careful. pickup trucks have ABS for a reason. its all to easy to have the back end slide out on you. I agree, the ABS in these trucks sucks, but im not about to disable mine. Id hate to see what happends if you got in an accident and insurance found your ABS fuse pulled.

They wouldn't have a hard time finding out if your airbags went off! Their is just no way that I am going to spend $4,000+ to get a Dana 60 built with the correct ABS outfit! Not worth it to me, all my life I have been with out, this being my first with and I am not saying it sucks I just hate it when it steps in, I feel "out of control"! I will just disable the chime by not installing the adapter for it when I put my new deck in.
