Yes, I do. I have 2300 miles on my LBZ now and I donŽt recall noticing that noise in the first 1000. Let me know if you hear what it could be. IŽll be looking into it.

its just a glowplug tip jumping arund in the turbo :joke: mine does it when I first start it up cold, but it goes away quickly.
flaming disclaimer, the first part of this post is intended to be a joke, not to be taken seriously by the people here who refuse to read the whole post before posting their own opinion:ro)

Mine has a ticking sound but it is on the drivers side most noticeable when warm at idle heard very clearly from the fender well.

GM says the ticking is a normal thing on the Duramax. Izzu diesel has been reporting the same on their diesel line for years. According to GM technical bulletins no action will be taken if the vehicle is bought in for the complaint.

Yep, I got it too. And I described the spot exactly as above.

Mine has also has it on the drvr side but its not on cycle its sorta random. Almost sounds like the heat sheilds growing back and forth, maybe fiber washers are crushed a bit too much?

Mine started ticking at 3,000 and stopped at 7,500 miles. Don't know if it is due to winter blend fuel or additves, but for now it is gone. Annoying when you're outside with the engine running. Hoping yours goes away and mine stays away.

mine also does it, in park at idle, same as was already said, annoying standing outside of truck.

this isn't the random ticking on an 01-02[i had AN 02 3500 CC D/A] this is a ticking that sounds like a out of adjustment solid lifter in a sml block chevy[yes im old]mine seems to be coming from the front of engine at pass side at or under air intake tube,i'l check some more this week ,but its probuly just a new noise we can only hear because these engines are so dam quiet,, also im not *****in just finding new things ,, this eng is worlds ahead of my 02

My 04 LB7 did it. Sounded like a faulty exhaust valve or compressor motor. I have heard the same sound from many other Duramaxes, as well, so I think it is inherent to the engine.

My 2001 LB7 ticked and was considered normal by the service bulletins and now my new LBZ does the same. There have been many threads posted over the years and it is considered to be normal as others have said.
