How much gas you guys givin'er? I was just wondering if my "half throttle" cold choke method is satisfactory. If she hesitates I will wait 10 sec and then try again. Then followed by a nice ploom of white smoke.

How cold is it when you are having start problems, I don't do anything special with throttle, not much benefit in it, it's not like a gasser. No choke, PCM determines fuel at start based on temp sensor input. If mine does not go 1st time I just reattempt start letting glow cycle complete before cranking again. Send us a more detailed description of problem, how cold, how long to successful starts, smoke on every start, a lot or a little, how long does smoke remain, what color, long or short glow cycle, lift pump on?

Id say the first cycle is about 5-10 seconds depending on temp. So lets say its plugged in all night, about 20 outside. Usually it will crank for about 2 or 3 sec and then struggle a little (I hate having to keep the starter engaged the extra sec so it doesnt spudder and die). Then it gives out some really cool sounds (I love these things) and then a nice white smoke cloud about half the size of a ford fiesta at most. Then she smooths out and no smoke. Sounds exactly like how mine starts and it needs new battery cables. I hold down for the extra second to make sure it starts the first time because sometimes it doesn't want to start on the second time. I am in the process of making my own heavy duty battery cables because the stock one just don't seem to hold up in my truck.
