Seen one of these in a mag ad, looked like box, tube, and lid with a tube on top going somewhere. Does anyone have any knowledge about it?

Over hyped & probably pricey like anything else from them, stick with the stock intake.

About a year back or so, I was down there at BANKS and talked to them. They informed me that they were not going to get into the whole "air intake" thing cuz everyone and their mother is making one. Also, they informed my that they test all their systems with the stock box but use a K&N drop in filter replacement.

Get some pics up when you can.

just recieved it and installed today, but I have not driven the truck yet.
Seems really well fit and high quality and the air filter is huge.

So where does it pull air from? Is this true Ram air?

So where in the plastic box does it chill the hot air down for the engine?
Can not see any insulation.Or what

You have to ad ice, Denboy. JK It does not chill the air down. I have not seen one but you want to try and pull in the coolest air possible

I ran across this last night on the Banks web site - looks like a good system. Hope it works well for you. I think most of these after-market kits are an improvement over the stock system. Let us know your thoughts on it after a few miles.

Nope, not at all...wish sumone would chime in,i was lookin a few minutes ago at the terrible job GM did on the supply air for the airbox-:t its not getting any real outside air at all.....kinda makes the volant idea of the bottom snorkel look like a not too bad of an idea.I think modification is definately needed.

I suppose now you'll say that their claim of +39hp and +69lb-ft is over hyped also? Of course, I'll have to buy one to complete my Banks truck. Let's see, +155hp (Six-Gun w/Speedloader), +18hp (Monster exhaust) and +39hp (Ram Air intake) should put me at 512hp. Now to be serious, it does like like a nice system, and I'll probably swap out my Volant intake for this come this spring.

I just pick up the ram air kits for my brother yesterday. It looks pretty good. I have an AFE, so we thought we would try the Banks on his. I can get them for $380 if anyone is interested.

Is that price because of a card you got in the mail? let us know about the comparison between AFE and Banks!

I like the banks because it fits better then my current system. That rubber piece in the pipe really helps and the whole system is good quality.

I'm not sure what you mean by a card in the mail because I haven't recieved one. Maybe the sender has the wrong address?

He He , what iam talking about is a card i got from Banks about special pricing on the new CAI because i was talking to one of there sales people before it had came out ,i dont know if it would give a discount or not,it says "call about special pricing"

the only pricing i know of myself is HIGH.

I've had mine on for quite awhile now and it seems to work great. There does seem to be a good power increase at the lower power settings (2-4) but i don't see much change up top. For me this is a good thing because i set up my PDA to start in the high setting (level 6) in 1st gear but drop down one power setting every time it shifts a gear. I don't hear any more noise from the turbo at all but then again this filter is enclosed and not open under the hood like the other types.

way better than the afe imo i had a afe stage 2 before on my lb7
always had probloms when i would clean filter the banks is easy
and the filter stays cleaner longer the whistle is the same as the afe
imo its the way to go,alot of people dont like banks but ive tried both and would recomend banks as far as overpriced wtf its the same

Have you been wearing your tin foil hat lately? I seem to sense a small shot at banks inflated claims ):h

Your not going to get 39HP from this.....well they mention with a tuner so if your tuner is adding the HP then maybe

Looks like a nice system. A bit overpriced IMO for marginal gains but if it floats your boat then go for it.

JMO but unless you you are searching for every last HP(if you have a stock trans you dont fit into this category) or want to pay a few hundered dollars to look cool and hear more turbo wistle after market intakes and air filters are a waste. JMHO from what I have seen at the track and on the dyno.
