Got my new '04 D/A with the camper/trailer wiring provisions. I'm now in search of the trailer brake controller; Ideally, I'd like to find a controller that comes configured with the right plug-in for the controller, so I don't have to splice/wire anything.

Would be interested in hearing from the community of GM truck owners what has worked best... brand and model number would be great.

Also, am I correct that once I install the brake controller under the dash, that I'll also need to insert a blade fuse into the fuse panel in the engine compartment?

Thanks in advance to your responses!

the prodigy, with chevy cable, for your year, plugs straight into your truck. it is also considered to be one of the best controllers. the fuse you are talking about came in a towing pack that is in your glove box or center console. the maxi fuse goes in the number 1 or 2 slot under your hood in the fuse holder.

Go with the Prodigy and get the GM harness from them also.

Plugs on both ends, one for truck and one for the Prodigy.

These guys have the best price on this controller that I've ever seen.

They also sell the harness that makes it a plug and play.
