What exactly are we cooling off here......................http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Oh....right......the engine......

Back on topic, like most most things there are the "for" and the "against" crowds. Those "for" will say let EGT's cool to 300F to prevent coking of the oil in the turbo bearings. That was certainly a problem with auto turbos circa 1980's. Those against say our turbo design doesn't have that problem, and based on the lack of turbo failures reported that's probably correct. I don't know of any other benefit for this. However like high idle switches and other things there is a certain "cool" factor to having it all.

PS I see this is a timer, I think there are similar devices that shut the engine down when preset EGT levels are achieved

I have a time but its based off of time, the other reason I bought it is because I can get out of my truck and let it idel and take the keys with me, hop back in and put the keys in and take off. Leting it idel down has now downside so I let it run down for a minute each time unless I have been flogging it and then will let her run down a bit longer. It cant hurt right! I cant remember were I got it.....its called a "turbo lifesaver"

I'm in the same boat as everyone else.

After staring at your avatar for about 5 minutes I need a cool down timer.
