: I drove a 2007 Tahoe yesterday!!!
DURAtotheMAX 01-22-2006, 11:03 AM Man is it awesome... The interior is beautiful. Nothing on the dash is "hollow" when you tap on it!! The wood looks really nice, the IPC is perfectly laid out, and the stereo actually sounds like a real BOSE stereo. I didnt crank it, so I couldnt see if its up to "lux" par, but it sounded good. The seats are smaller and arent as big and cushy as the GMT-800 seats, but they are still very comfortable, more "efficent" i guess...meaning they dont have to be as big as a couch (like hte -800 seats) to still be comfy. Im also happy to report that the leather actually feels real and is SOFT!!!! The power lift gate is cool too, as are the power folding rear seats. It drives increibly nicely too. VERY quiet. I noticed that right away. I only really dug into the pedal once, and it felt the same, maybe SLIGHTLY quicker than the current Tahoe....nothing really impressive that amazed me, but perfectly adequate. The trans, even tho its still the stupid old 4L60-E, seems to shift smoother and nicer than my dad's '03 Tahoe. The coil sprung front suspension is VERY VERY nice and is controlled and firm, yet nice and soft. Much better than the current tahoe. And im also happy to say that the steering actually doesnt take WORK to keep on center on the highway, wheres on the tahoe, i feel like im "working" to keep it going straight. letting go of the wheel, the new Tahoe just tracks striaght and true like our HD trucks. The brakes are something else too. Theyre WORLDS better than the current tahoe brakes, which frankly, suck. Very firm pedal and no fade, and very positive stopping power. ABS feels much better too (its not a Delphi unit, Bosch makes it). The interior switches all feel nice and solid too...I notice the headlight switches and everything just feel really nice. Also they have cool little tricks, like for lane changes, you just tap the turn signal stalk once, and it automaticaly flashes the blinker 3 times and then turns off!! Sooo all in all, in my oppinion I think GM hit a home run. I love the looks from every angle except the back...the back doesnt really do anything for me. Pics coming soon of it...even tho u guys have probably seen pics already.

oh yeah...still no underhood light!
Max Power 01-22-2006, 11:29 AM Thanks for the report. Post pics when you get a chance.
You need to buy one and put your duramax in it. :D

I know!!! Man talk about a sweet vehicle...a new tahoe with a Dmax!!!
DURAtotheMAX 01-22-2006, 01:29 PM pics are coming i just have to resize them.
One other interesting thing I noticed was the HUGE amount of space between the radiator and the front of the engine. Probably a good 10 inches or so of just empty space.....mmmmm I smell a 5 star crash rating!!!
I also got some pics of the new 32 bit ECM. It looks almost like a 2006 LLY ECM that ive seen. As to who makes it (Bosch? Delphi?) I dont know...

DURAtotheMAX 01-22-2006, 01:31 PM another GOOD thing I noticed....on the headlights...when the high beams are on, the low beams ALSO STAY ON!!! (a tribute to Max Power's diode mod :) )

Still havent done that mod yet. I just havent had time or good weather to do it.
I suppose if I ever peeled myself away from this damn computer I would make time. I'm a jackass.

Another prime example that GM engineering is actively reading this site, and taking the mods explained here and putting them in the new trucks....
I wonder if the cabin filters made a return?
DURAtotheMAX 01-22-2006, 04:49 PM I wonder if the cabin filters made a return?
Doh!! forgot to check on that one...
Bodysurfer 01-22-2006, 04:52 PM Sounds great!
Glamis44 01-22-2006, 09:05 PM The Tahoe is very nice and quiet too. I did not care for the Wood Grain in the dash, some brushed aluminum would look alot better....(GM loose the wood). The engine is smooth and powerfull. The seats are a lot more comfortable and I do not see these new seats wearing as fast as the old leather. I was getting tired of the wrinkles in the sides. Big improvements. I can't wait for the truck.
Reineke 01-22-2006, 09:12 PM Good write up! All the mags seem to like the new Tahoe also. My dealer had over 10 of them last week and now they are all gone. Good news for GM!
DMAX KING 01-22-2006, 11:44 PM Sound awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
96vette 01-23-2006, 12:47 AM Good write up! All the mags seem to like the new Tahoe also. My dealer had over 10 of them last week and now they are all gone. Good news for GM! Same here,we were at our chevrolet dealership on Sat 1-14-06 to get my wife her 2006 tahoe we looked at the 2007 but there were no insentives on them, he got 9 of them in on 1-10-06 (tuesday) and by sat. he only had 2 left.
Glamis44 01-23-2006, 06:58 PM The problem with buyin 06's is they are going to depreciate alot faster. And once I drove the 07,there was no goin back to an 06. I am waiting for the Escalade or Denali though. They cut us Chevy guys short by putting that useless 4 speed trans in it. The Escalades and Denali's are getting the new 6 speed auto. Whats up with that.

Whats up with that.No way,its about the same no insentives on the 07 compared to the 06 with $9000 off the sticker, you will pay more for the 07 due to no 0% interest on the 07 which I got 0% on the 06,yeah the 07 will be worth more at the end but you payed alot more interest on the 07 unless your rich and pay cash on the 07.
Reineke 01-24-2006, 04:15 AM 06 Tahoe has $5500 off MSPR or 0% as incentive for 36-72 months.

mikek996 01-24-2006, 07:27 AM Some how I don't think they need us,but a interesting thoughtthey dont even take any advice from their techs. they surely arent using any info from here.
96vette 01-24-2006, 02:47 PM 06 Tahoe has $5500 off MSPR or 0% as incentive for 36-72 months. True but thats the deal we got because my wife worked for the dealership for 12 years and she left about 9 years ago plus were still pretty good friends with the owner of the dealership and the sales manangers.
