Has anyone seen this muffler or have one installed:

I saw one at a local muffler shop that does work on diesel trucks.

Here is the website:

To install this a 4" straight pipe exhanust would be best. Anyone sell a T-304 straight pipe w/o a muffler?

Rich Gilett in SLC Ut has one on his truck.(02 D/A Crew)

At first he didn't think it would work. He did some testing with it using pressure/Vacume guages. He said the Areo Turbine will create vacume on the turbo side. Actually helps pull exhaust he said.

He is using it in front of a Banks muffler, on a banks 4" system. He said it was because the Banks system was too Loud. I have been in his truck and it sounds really nice now.

Rich tried using the Aero turbine as the only muffler but said it was too loud by itself.Edited by: LLY DMAX

So, aside from being loud, did it increase hp and spooling when installed w/o the Banks muffler? I would not care about the noise, I don't think. I probably could go to the dealwe where I learned about this and see if I could get a ride http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif and make my own judgement.

Thanks for the feedback. BTW, did it fit well to the pipe? Did your friend clamp or weld it on?

I think just adding the 4" system would help spooling and EGTs. I was reading the info on this muffler and it said it takes 6-800 miles before the computer reprograms to reflect the gains....ummm I didn't realize the computer could "reprogram" itself. IS this like the Tornado except on the other end?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

A before & after dyno test would be nice to see along with guage readings, i.e. EGT & boost.

I don't know Rick personally, but I know the shop is one of the best in the Salt Lake City area with a dyno and all the necessary equipment to provide that info, and they've got a really good reputation except for one thing.... They've always been partial to F**d....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I've talked with them on the phone and may wind up having them do some things. I think there may be hope for them since a F**d driving aquaintance of mine stopped by the other day to look at my truck. Said he'd been talking to "one of the guys" at Gillett about the PSD 6.0 and asked him what he'd buy in a new diesel? The reply "Probably a new Duramax..."Edited by: Zeeb

(I have thick fingers) His name is Rich, not Rick.

Rich is the owner, and has owned Ford, and Dodge. Now he has the Duramax. He and his wife took a drive in a newer Ford recently. They could not believe how loud and rough riding it was. He said he would never go back after owning a duramax.

I don't know how it was installed, Welded or clamped. As far as performance, I don't know. I think he just used it to make the Banks quieter.

You could ask him, He is always good about helping us out with questions. 800-638-4679

He told me he didn't think it would work when he first saw it. However he is very well respected around here, so if he tested it and said it is a good product I trust him.

Cool. I will call him and see what else I can learn.

Thanks,
