Try this link on eBay. This guy did my bowtie in Summit White. Beautiful job. My pic is on pg. 14 of "what you ride looks like" if you want to see it. He also has a pic of one on the auction site. He might be able to custom paint the red, white and blue.

Here is a replky from the guy that paints them. You must keep in mind they are very labor intessive to make them look nice.

"I can do the Bowties, GMC badges and even the big blue oval for the ford lovers.(yuck)
<DIV>The ones I do are all custom painted and no two are the same. I dont use stickers or decals! I only use a high quality urethane basecoat/clearcoat system. I can either paint your bowtie or get a replacement one from GM. New ones range from 18.00 to 30.00 +\- after my discounts. I charge 75.00 and that will include return shipping with insurance. If I can get 10 people wanting one done around the same time I will give a group discount to everyone... These take time and would only make it easier for me to do several at once. </DIV>
<DIV>If interested please contact me at mp350@roostfest.com (mp350@roostfest.com) I will try to do my best to answer any and all questions.</DIV>

***UPDATE***

First off I'd like to say Thank you to everyone interested in having me paint their bowties.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up.
A few of the bowties were back ordered on me last week. Three of them showed up today and 4 more will/should be here tomorrow. I've started on all of the ones currently in my possession. I wanted to have them done this week but that didnt turn out as expected. As long as I get the ones I am waiting on by friday the latest, they will be finished this weekend. I will post here when they are completed to let everyone know when they will be shipped out.

The GMC badges are extremely tough. The emblem has a chrome surround that creates the problem. There is no way to safely tape off or remove it either. The whole emblem with the chrome surround will be painted. My only concern about this is the paint chipping off the chrome. I will do my best but I cant guarantee its longevity. I will take what ever precaution necessary to give the two GMC owners the best that I can give them. With that in mind I will not change the prices quoted.
I will charge a flat fee of 60.00 plus the cost of the new bowtie/GMC badge, and I will cover return shipping.

If there are any questions or problems please contact me at mp350@roostfest.com

Thank you very much

Thank you very much.

Yes I did get more than anticipated. but I always seem to work better under pressure :) I ran into one snag today... The ones that were ordered mid week are still not in. I was told by the dealer that they should be in by monday. It also seems that a few guys at the dealer may want some done now too..... (they were a little curious why I was ordering 14 or so emblems) I dont want to hold everyone up so I will do all of the ones I have now so I can ship them out next week and do the rest as soon as I get them.

I was thinking about these today and thought I would ask everyones opinion. The first one or two that I've done I just clear coated them. The last few I applied a very thin coat of an Xerillic pearl. It is similar to the glass fragment flake in the House of Kolor line. To me it adds a little life into the paint and almost gives it a floating effect. This new pearl will reflect many different colors so its not like it will only match on say a blue truck. What is everyones opinion on this? Just so everyone knows.. I am not changing the prices nor will I charge anything for this. Just an added bonus to everyone. Anyone interested?

I have no problems with waiting a little longer either. I am also willing to pay a little extra for the pearl if it is more expensive to do. I am just hoping the paint sticks to the chrome surround well. I have several friends and coworkers waiting to see the results and very interested in purchasing one for their trucks. On a side note.. The GMC badges will not be done with the rest of the bowties... I'm having a problem w/ the chrome bezel so I need to strip them down and prep the chrome a different way. They will take me a little more time and I appologize for that. I hope to have a better idea next week after I get them stripped. (to finish/ship them)

Thank you everyone for payment... They should be going out today via usps or ups/fedex by friday the latest.

As for care of them... I recommend not waxing them for at least 30 days. The urethane needs time to fully cure, and by waxing it your sealing it. After 30 days you should be good to wax or what ever you want. It can be treated like the rest of the paint on your truck.

I would like to hear from everyone when you get the bowtie or post a pic of it installed.

JIMPRU, CTROB, or anyone else that would like one... I will start a new post once all of these are shipped incase anyone else would like one also.

Thank you very much everyone!

I am not sure about the bowtie, but the gmc emblem snaps in and out. You just remove the plastic trim/cover between the hood latch and radiator and you should be able to see how the emblem is fastened into the grill.

Handyman,

The Bowtie comes off from the other side with (2) 3/8?
nuts. Be careful because the studs are plastic.
It will make it very easy to do if you remove the top plastic cover, on top of the radiator etc. There are several plugs which hold it on. To remove the plugs just pry up the center part, remove it & pull the plug out.
The whole thing will be off in about 2-3 min. Then it's very easy access to the Radiator,Grille area.

Good luck & have fun...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Silatman:
Here is "my" recommendation to swapping the side badges...

Take some 2" masking tape and apply 2 or 3 layers all around the badge on the door.. You want to apply the tape directly to the door at the top, bottom, and sides. Next use a putty knife that is at least as wide as the badge but not wider than the tape on the door. With a firm grip slide the putty knife under the leading edge of the badge. I suggest starting at the front or back. Make sure that you dont dig the knife into the tape. It shouldnt take too much pressure to remove the badge. Once the badge is off there may be some left over double sided adheasive tape left. You can use your finger or the face of your thumb to remove it. There is a product called "Goof Off" thats sold at Home Depot. It will remove the glue and left over double sided tape without harming the paint. If you leave the tape, you can use it as a guide as to where the new badge will go back into place.

Tip: Apply the tape almost upagainst the edge of the badge maybe an 1/8" away at most. You dont want to cover the badge anywhere since you will be holding it to the door skin.

If you have anymore questions about this feel free to msg me here or drop me an email to mp350@roostfest.com

Hey All,

I have a way to remove the side placards/badges without damaging the paint or the sheetmetal. First go to WallyWorld (Wall-Mart) and go to the fishing department, get the biggest fishing line you can get (equivilent to 1/16" or less) and wrap it around your hands a few times. Then just work it thru from one end to the other in a sawing action. My suggestion is to wear gloves because you will swear you are cutting off your fingers along with removing the placard/badge.

Then when it is removed take your hairdryer or your wifes if you are follicly challenged, and heat up the doubleback tape enough to roll it off with your fingers. Too much heat......Damaged Paint!!

Good Luck thats how I removed all of mine and it worked great.

Professor and GMC2500HD;

I had to media blast both the GMC badges due to the chrome surround on the emblems. I was having adheasion problems over the chrome. I did not want to take any chances and have them start pealing. I should have most of them done this week and will post a photo as soon as I can. They may not be cleared but should give you a good idea.

I now have the adheasion issue under control so it should not be a problem in the future.

Thanks

No need for him to get defensive and no need for you to state your opinion the way you did. Different strokes for different folks! If you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all. All you had to say was that you prefer billet Bowties over anything. Anything is possible.... Since there are so many different styles/colors of Camo I would only request something as reference to go by. Cost would vary*but not by much.
This is the most popular pattern. It would probably been hard to get that much detail and I wouldn't expect it. BTW this would be on a GMC logo.
