Took a little road trip on Sat to pick up some car parts in Indy. Filled up in Roselawn In. with premium and made it 125 mi before I lost power with the cruise set on 75mph. No indication what so ever, just like I took my foot off the loud pedal. I was able to limp it off the highway and find a gas station to use for a wind break and then realized that while in park I could not rev over 2K, just like I had a rev limiter. I immediately thought(hoped!) it was the fuel filter but did not have the new style filter, however I did have a spare one left over from my 02. I remembered a post regarding the backwards compatibilty between filters and proceded to change it. I was prepared with tools, cover-alls and hand cleaner just in case this ever happened and all I can say is I'm glad the weather was decent, that would not be a fun job in the dark, snowy or rainy conditions. The truck has 3k mi, I chose a gas station that was also part of a fuel delivery bussiness so I think it's safe to say if you drive a deisel be prepared, you never know when it's your turn! If some one has a tool to cut the filter open let me know I will send the bad filter over and we can get some pics.

I cut mine open with a hacksaw, it left a little bit of metal shavings on the filter. I cut in just below the crimp line. My Filter (http://www.bigmoes.net/filter.htm)You can see how I did it.

WOW BIGMoe,

That filter looks real bad, are you using an additive?

Are you buying your fuel at the same place? If so are you going to switch fuel suppliers?

No I am not using any additive, I am really thinking about starting to use some. I do use Power Service when it gets real cold. The gunk in the bottom of the filter was bad looking but it wiped right out, there was no rust on the filter itself. I am buying most of my fuel from a truck stop, they move a lot of fuel so I figured it was the best place to buy fuel. To only other places for me to buy fuel is C-Store type places.
