Just noticed lately that the front left wheel on my truck will squeak about the first 4 or 5 revolutions then it quits. Does not seem like brakes dragging but maybe. Could the wheel bearing be starting to go. Also has no weird vibrations or anything when running down the road.

May be a front hub going south, common failure.

Mine did the same thing and it was the wheel hub.

If you search around, from $285 to $400 for the part alone. Check with Eric, the link in my signature. I paid $342 because I needed it RFN. Remove tire and your six bolts from done and one electrical snap connector for the ABS sensor.

My dealer discounted price I found was $275, have to check out the situation when I get home. Anything special to look for to know for sure or just replace and hope for the best.

Might want to make sure it's not the brakes. I lost one complete pad on passenger side. At first it squeeked. Then it started to grind.
Metal on metal was not good.
Like others have said though, bad front hub bearings are not un-common.

Wanted to check the front hub nut torque the other day . In the process the covers got mangled , I'd like to leave them off so they can be checked as regular maintenance . How important are they ?
