I have an aftermarket alarm on my 04 and have a small problem. The alarm will normally chirp 3 times when armed if the interior lights are on, it only chirps once if the interior lights are off. In order to use the silent arming mode you have to hold the arm button for two seconds. That only works if the interior lights are off. Now here's the dilemma, the interior lights normally stay on for a few seconds before they shut off on their own. That means to use the silent mode I have to wait for the interior lights to shut off on their own, which is annoying, or leave the interior lights off which prevents the alarm from activating if a door is opened. Is there a way to make the interior lights shut off immediatly after the door closes?
It's an '04 like it says in the post.

Do you know how the installer interfaced with the door locks? Did he use a 'door lock module' or did he go into the drivers door and passenger door right to the switch. Most 'door lock modules' for the 03 and 04 trucks have an output that is a door pin switch output and not affected by the interior light delay. This is used to trigger the alarm when the doors are opened.
Other then that I don't know of any way to remove the delay.
I'm not sure how the installer did it. In fact I'm not really happy with the installation as it is. Is the "door lock module" a part of the factory system or is it an add on for the aftermarket alarm? Thanks for the info.Edited by: BERK

Yeah I was told the door lock module was a must for correct install.

What kind of alarm is it?Mine does the same thing and it is a Prestige 996.Think you can actually delete the chirps completely on mine by programming the alarm module?
