Have You Priced It ? Is It Cheaper?

By the time you get them sanded and painted it likely wouldn't be much cheaper. And you still wouldn't have chrome handles.

Max Power
03-07-2004, 09:53 PM
On second thought it would likely be cheaper to have them painted. I was thinking $140 for 4 but they are $140 per pair.

You can buy a pair on ebay for $99 and they are the chromed ones.

Wonder if you could buy factory handles for a suburban? Not sure if the price would be better that way or not.Body shop labor is usually alot less an hour.I will check tomorrow.

Go to gmpartsdirect.com they have the escalade handles in any color you want. They are $166 I think it was shipped for four handles. Just email one of their reps or whatever and they will give you the part numbers for the color you want. I think I have the part number for the white ones if anyone is interested.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

Here is the list I made, BbbbuuuuTTTTT GM now decided not to sell pre-painted parts anymore as of about a month ago. They now offer them in a ready to paint black "gel coat". Here are the #'s and it doesn't hurt to try them because i still hear people getting them and some are not able to but I think you will find they are no good anymore. Funny how things work, a year ago the painted Escalade handles were $23 ea. GM realizes that people are swapping them so they bump the price to $43 ea. Now the realized people are still swapping them so they decide to stop painting them and still charge the higher price.

Not hard at all, I did both sides in 35 mins. But Ive taken my door panels off a few times now.

I paid 63 bucks for 2 Escalade Lt Pewter door handles less than a year ago.

I have found that you can get parts cheaper from your own dealer than anywhere else as long as you ask for a commercial business discount.

My auto body co. I deal with wanted 80 bucks!!!!!! to paint my handles. No thanks

Chevy,

How do you remove the plastic traingle piece that covers the back of the side view mirror without breaking the clips http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gif

03GMC2500HD

Blinky they are pretty tough clips. I just grabbed it and popped it off. Check for the screw in the bottom corners of the door panels. Take your time and go easy. First one will take about 15-20 min then the next one will probably take you 5 min! I changed all four of mine in about 35 min. Very simple deal. Glad to hear you guys can still get them but I would guess an end is coming soon.

Hoser805 you will probably have to get the ready to paint black handles and have them painted forthe new colors. Or you could just buy a set off Ebay in what ever color and scuff them and paint them to match.

go to wal-mart and get factory truck spray paint and a can of clear coat... and some sandpaper to scuff it up a little... should cost you about $10 and if you do it right (i.e. more thin coats instead of less heavy coats and a couple coats of clear coat) you should have exactly what you wanted without the price...

Hoser805, haven't seen those #'s yet. Here is something you can do though. Find a buddy with a Silver Birch Yukon or one that is for sale either at the lot, internet, e-bay is a good source and get the VIN # number off of it and call your local dealership and have them find replacement handles for that VIN #,. That is about the best I can do for you on the SB.

The Summit White (it has been called other names as well) GM Code 50 has been used for at least 20 years. Is varies so much we sometimes send out the customers gas lid to the manufacturer when ordering a lid or shell.

If is it blended into an existing body panel, you wont notice it. But, break it in a sharp edge and you can tell the minor variations.

I have had 3 black vehicles (actually still have 2). The Harley is also two-tone Dark Red met over Black. The Red it about the same color as my Vette was. All were/are difficult to keep looking good. This truck has been easy. White is pretty forgiving. Have to admit though, nothing looks better to me than a perfectly clean nice black one.

The best I can tell, painted tailgate bezels were only available on the GMC C3, Sierra Denali, and the SS.

This would mean they should be available in the following colors:

11 Pewter C3, SD
41 Black C3, SD, SS
47 Polo Green 04 SD
59 Silver Birch 04 SD
74 Victory Red SS
91 Arrival Blue SS

39 Indigo Blue has not been offered on one of these and was discontinued in 2002 and replaced with 91 Arrival/Marine blue.

I picked up two in pewter this week and the paint on both was less than satisfactory, but they will still be easier to re-paint than the stock ones.

The bezel and the handle are sold as seperate items as well.

The EXT bezel will not fit the trucks. It is shape more like the Avalanche You have to use a bezel from the <st1:place w:st="on">Denali</st1:place> or Silverado SS. The SS comes in Arrival Blue. Sorry don't have a part number. Still not sure on the chrome handle. I haven't found one "in stock" in a parts department to compare. The handle itself looks like the same. To the best of my knowledge, yes, you do. I have not ordered any in Blue, but it matches my list for Arrival Blue. I have not been able to find the one for the tailgate bezel of the 04 Silverado SS but they do make it. See if you can find one on the lot and write down the VIN!

Skid the rear handles have a way different bracket for the rod but I have heard some people have modified them to work but I don't know for sure. Best bet would be to find the VIN from a 04 SS and order replacement door/tailgate handles according to that VIN. A dealership or E-bay or internet search is an easy way to grab a VIN.

Chevy,

How do you remove the plastic traingle piece that covers the back of the side view mirror without breaking the clips http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Question.gif

I did this yesterday. I used a thin bladed small screwdriver to create a small opening in one of the corners, then inserted a larger trim removal tool like this one http://www.toolking.com/grip/view.asp?id=3745 and applied pressure slowly until the first one popped off. Once you have one off, keep the tool inserted and move it towards the next one until it's close and repeat the process. I didn't find it too difficult and found that the OEM ones are made very well and do not break (at least I didn't break any); I had to remove one of the aftermarket ones I installed bc I forgot to remove the tape adhesive (duh http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif) and using the same procedure one of the plastic insterts broke off - but the tape works well so it feels tight for now. Good luck.

Actually there was a correction posted today on another site that the correct #s for the Arrival Blue handles are:
Arrival Blue (no chrome, all blue):
15093822 FLH
15093823 FRH

Don't know if they are for the 04's or not and don't know the rear #'s yet!

skidsteerloader, did you ever order the arrival blue handles. If so, did the paint match up ?

To all interested...

Handles are still available at gmpartsdirect.com. Additionally, I have found out during my installation that the rear right handle on a crew cab will not fit in the front. The activating lever is shaped differently and will not match up. The dealer installing suggested part number 15066574 that I ordered the other day from the above supplier. I will try an install again in a week or two.

You guys want the cheapest place to buy you parts now that you have the part numbers? Click on the link below and get ahold of "Jason". If you call, expect to wait for a little bit, He is very Busy!

My wife works at a Chevrolet Dealership and he beats the price she gets as an employee!!! Good luck, Spend Wisely

DLAnderson, You can pull the pins on the new handle and the stock handle and swap the rod brackets very easily. The bolt pattern is the same just swap the levers. Takes less than 5 min. and now you have a RF handle!

I've been buying from Jason Cromer for a while. Smokin' prices and even better shipping prices!

Door handles are $25 each :)

Thanks for the info, but lets say I have an '04
and want to add the lock on the passengers side.

Anyone done that? I assume I'll need a key-matched
(correct lock number) lock & rod assembly from
an '03?

Thanks for any information!

T.

I wrote to this Jason a month ago with my list of parts I wanted. Never heard a word from him, so I went to www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com)
