Can anyone tell me if the hole (about .156") found in the 3/4 frictions are intended for alignment during installation. Thank you.

The hole in the C3 and C4 clutch apply pistons should be installed in the 12 O clock position. This would be the top of the tranny, closest to the floorboard when installed in the truck.

now that makes sense, but no holes in frictions, just oil slots

There is a hole in the C3/4 frictions (not the oil slots). I know about the 12 o'clock piston hole, take a close look at a friction and you'll see what I mean. Can only think it's for aligning the frictions on the ring gears??? What do you think?

OOOO

I see it now. It can be used as an alignment hole, yet, but you wont see the one below with a steel in place

Put a line on the sun gear with a marker, then put each friction on lining it up with the mark. This way you can align each friction without being able to see the ones below it. Also remember to line up the steels.
