Drove my truck yesterday everything was fine. Started it up today let it warm up as usual, put it in reverse and it slammed into gear, put it into drive and the same thing happend. It almost felt like I had it in 4lo, but it wasn't. Drove it about 10 miles it shifed fine, then I stopped and tried running it through the gears, park to reverse and it did the same thing, then I went from park to drive and it was fine. So something is not normal right now

Ummm, you didn't say specifically that you checked the trannie fluid level, the first thing I would want to rule out (or in). Other than that, how many miles ? have you changed or had changed the trannie oil and filter ? how recently ? any signs of leaks, etc. ... ... ?

I have 72,000 miles on it. Transmission fluid level is good, and it was changed at 50,000 and there isn't any leaks. I pulled out my EDGE juice thinking that it was a computer glitch but it does the same thing with it out.

No it's quite easy ..... Part #29540479 avaialable at any Allison dealer for under 50 bucks .... Block wheels on truck on level ground place gear shift in neutral ,unplug wire harness, remove shift linkage cable and arm, couple bolts and your done ....Keep a decent idea where the old one was aligned in order to align the new switch ....

Mac, does the NSBU switch ever fail to the point where you can't drive it? Later! Frank

Yes it can. Once the shift lever is in the Drive position, the manual valve no longer does anything in the transmission. You can move the lever all the way down to 1, but nothing mechanical is going on. Smoke and mirrors and NSBU after the Drive position.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
