Anyone dynoed an impressive tune yet? or even think they have something comparable to aftermarket power (480-500+ rwhp) with tuning from EFI Live?

Just curious how far this is progressing and how quickly. This rocks.:ro) and I can't wait until I can afford it AND a cheap laptop. (Looks like I missed out on that $100 one from classifieds. That was CHEAP if the XP really ran ok on it.)

I played a bit and put my 2002 up to 500. Nothing that hasn't been done before with this truck, but nice to do with my tuning and no boxes.

I have a fairly stout LLY tune running. Feels stronger than the 180 VA, based on myself and 2 co-riders, but not dyno tested yet. Fueling added was actually quite modest for the HP/feel returned.

I have not had a chance to get on a dyno yet.......I have some tunes that feel real good, but the SOTP Meter will have to be verified on a "LIE DETECTOR" at Janetty's Superflow in the next few weeks.

I am hoping my west coast "2003" test mule will get a chance to roll some "EVIL TUNES" in the coming weeks as well.

I have sent some tunes to a few members and have gotten good feedback, a recent economy tune netted the member 23+ mpg on a trip --> hand calculated <----;)

It is a lot of fun, especially when you fry the back tires thru 3 or 4 gears on a 7500 lb truck without a boosted launch.........;)

That's impressive, Anyone had any luck with reducing pilot injection? I have toyed with it some to get better milage, hasn't worked to good though. All I have been able to get done is have a rough running truck.

I read somewhere (can't recall right now) where this guy (who was a diesel engineer) was saying that pilot injection quantities should sort of track the quantity of the main pulse. In other words, you don't light a fire cracker with blow torch, instead use a match.
So there is going to be a point where reducing the pilot quantity will have a negative effect (like you found), likewise increasing it beyond what is needed is also not ideal.

I can understand that logic, BTW anybody that is trying to get LB7 milage with a LLY by copying the LB7 pilot tables, don't do it. Truck will idle fine, run good for a little bit and then huff more white smoke then a powerplant a few miles down the road. Luckily, I had the computer with me to get rid of the tune right away.

I have been using a few test trucks for my tunes, a 2001 in Michigan, my 2002 and a 2003 in CA-Trippin's Truck. I am also waiting for a member in NY with a 2004 to get his EFI-Live up and running.

I want to test these tunes over all the 2001-2004/LB7 years.

Other than the test truck in Michigan and one other truck in AZ, nobody has this tune.

PM me you e-mail and send me the stock tune file from your fathers truck.

As soon as I get the feedback/mileage from the AZ truck I will make a decision....;)

I need to get some on a dyno first, see if any of them need improvements, from the members that have gotten various tunes all seem to be working nicely.

I have sent the tune to another member for his 2002 truck and he will be taking a trip to verify the fuel mileage on that truck.

Once I know that the results are repeatable I will post what they are.

The trucks are completely different in years and modifications.

As long as you have a commercial version then yes, it's free, if you only have a personal then you just need to pay for the upgrade to commercial.

I typically hate when someone repeats what you say verbatum (sp?) but I am going to just to make sure I am understanding this correctly.

If a person has a EFI Live personal edition, they will NOT be able to utilize this new found "switchable" feature. BUT can upgrade to a commercial version, at which point they will have access to a "switching" function. Am I on the right track here?

On the flip side.... If a person has an EFI Live commercial edition, they WILL be able to utilize this new found "switchable" feature as soon as it is released to the general public. Which is projected to be when??

Will it be "switchable on the fly"?

Thanks, this is getting really interesting.

The commercial Version is designed so that you can reflash the ECM to accept a different year OS or a custom EFI-LIVE OS.

The value of the upgrade is well worth the extra $150.00.

I will be testing the switchable tune in the next day or so, it has already been extensively tested in CA....

The commercial version is, and has been available. I purchased mine in October before the Duramax stuff was released. There is no reason to wait to buy a commercial license, it's the OS and associated calibration files that are currently being tested so they are not available to the public. When released they will be available as a no charge download for commercial and workshop customers. You guys are going to love the new features!:ro)

I don't know what it feels like for power, I never even drove it. I wrote it for a member who was taking a trip, I was surprised that it got 23 mpg.

He did not say if the power was great or just a little better than stock. I am sure that it is no powerhouse based on the changes I made, but it was not written for power, it was written for fuel economy.

PM me your e-mail address and I will send the tune file out so you father can try it..
