: Van Aaken Smart Box 2.0 - Questions...
mannytranny 03-06-2004, 05:09 PM Seems like this is the best box for a 6 speeder. Keep in mind I am not looking for anything over 70 horse or so...
What are the three settings on the dial? 0-50-110? or 0-70-110?
It is listed as "DynoMite/van Aaken Smart D 2.0 DuraMax "
It is used. Says it was removed from a 02 Duramax.
Does VA warranty this thing after the first owner?
The serial number is 23868.
Thanks all...
dieselfumes 03-06-2004, 06:26 PM I believe the Smart Box D is the pressure box.
Kennedy 03-06-2004, 07:22 PM Smart Box D is pressure box. Smart Box E is pulse width.
Readily identifiable by the plug ins. D plugs into only the one large plug at valve cover, E plugs into both.
mannytranny 03-06-2004, 08:21 PM Dont want that...
Bummer, I thought I had a good one here...
Hmmm...I go back and look, and it says both E and D. Ill email the guy. Is there a way to tell by the serial number? Here is a pic of the thing. I really cant tell. Kinda looks like it might have 2 plugins.

So if it is the right box, does VA warranty it?
Do yall think it would be the best box for a 6 speeder?
Thanks
Mackin 03-06-2004, 09:50 PM Pressure box .....
Smart Box D ....
Mac
mannytranny 03-06-2004, 10:25 PM How can you tell?
I looked again, and they said on two other places in the description that it was a type E...
Im confused...
Kennedy 03-07-2004, 12:35 PM From the looks of it, BD will be your warranty station.
Definitely a D. The E is here: http://www.kennedydiesel.com/detail.cfm?ID=247
Juice/Attitude, or Smart Box E is my recommendation... Edited by: Kennedy
mannytranny 03-07-2004, 09:00 PM Thanks

Found another one...
Here is the description: Up for auction is a BD Power EZ AMP Power Box. Had latest update installed 8-03. Good condition. These things are amazing! Sold truck so I might as well sell it. Paid $849 for the thing! Email me with any questions. GOOD LUCK Horse power settings are Plus 30/45/60/100 with a maximum increase of 250 ft lbs of torque.
Is this just the Juice, or is is more? Thanks again...
mannytranny 03-08-2004, 12:31 AM JK - is any version of the Juice as good as the next in regards to smoothness for a 6 speed?
What is the HP level it sets itself on at first?
Thanks
Kennedy 03-08-2004, 08:56 AM That is an Edge Juice (non intergrated) so it should carry:
40, 60, 75, and 90 HP levels.
Non integrated means it is not Attitude ready. It would need to enter the Attitude Upgrade program to accpt the monitor. Then it will have 125 HP rating which is as strong/stronger than most anybodies program rated less than 150 HP.
mannytranny 03-08-2004, 03:40 PM Thanks. Im really not going for anything on big HP at all. I just want a modest boost. I wouldnt even run anything over 75 hp.
Does anyone know of someone running a Juice on a 6 speed truck? How is it working? Smooth pedal?
Thanks
Kennedy 03-08-2004, 04:09 PM The Attitude is what lets you switch levels. The VA Smart Box E will let you switch levels with a rotary switch.
The std Juice will default to 60 HP level. without an Attitude monitor and the only way to adjust would be on an auto truck.
I should add, you'll likely want a CA version of the Juice so as not to smoke excessively. The Attitude lets you adjust all this as well... Edited by: Kennedy
mannytranny 03-08-2004, 06:07 PM Thanks again...
Camstyn 03-08-2004, 08:16 PM FWIW, I've got the Juice 4.73 and it only smokes excessively in is level 5 / 125hp. Go with the Juice mannytranny you'll love it. No issues at all with it here, just lots of smooth power.
mannytranny 03-08-2004, 08:35 PM I just might do that.
I really want smooth power, because in town, I am usually doing a lot of heavier hauling, and with traffic, a smooth setup is VERY important.
Is it any harder to drive than stock? I have kinda a hard time with it even at stock. At least keeping it smooth.
It sure isnt the easiest manual trans Ive ever driven. At least not in traffic...
Kennedy 03-09-2004, 10:13 AM Some of the 6 speeders have commented on difficulty driving with mods. I'd definitely suggest the Attitude with the Juice, or again, a CA version as the std versions will smoke excessively on a CA truck.
The VA SB-E is a bit "softer" or less aggressive on the pedal. I'm hoping to do some tuning with VA soon to get the responsiveness up and a bit of the timing taken out.
mannytranny 03-09-2004, 04:15 PM Thanks JK.
The truck is not a CA truck. No CAT or EGR. Bought in Colorado.
I just dont want to put out 800! bucks for an attitude that I will never run over 60 hp. Why pay for HP Im never going to use?
Im afraid that a Juice will just be too harsh. It is on ebay, and I could never return it if I didnt like it. I guess Ill have to keep an eye open for a VASB-e.
I guess that is the softest feeling box. Even stock, it can be touchy in second gear...
Thanks
Kennedy 03-09-2004, 06:15 PM I'll have some more available soon.
mannytranny 03-09-2004, 08:00 PM Thanks.
Do you think that the D box would be alright for my application?
Or is fuel pressure something we dont want to screw with with all the injector problems going around?
