Blue Point is the company that makes Snap-On tools right? It even says Snap-On on the back of blue point boxes. So, why does it say Taiwan on Blue Point wrenches and USA on Snap-On wrenches?

Snap-on is made by snap-on in USA. Bluepoint is the name snap-on puts on products that they outsource. Bluepoint also does not carry the same snap-on warranty. You can quite often find the same tool as bluepoint for much less money from a different company.

You are lucky. They are not lifetime warranty like snap-on.

I got a set of blue point ratcheting box wrenches that are nicer than any things else out there I could find in the stores. I could be wrong but I feel like they're better quality than say their craftsman counterparts even if they are chinese made. Now I don't know if mac, facom, or any other high end tool company makes these wrenches yet but I didn't compare to them. They've served me well and when one of them did break snap-on replaced it no questions asked.

I got the same wrenches for X-Mas and they are:pimp: . My girlfirend got them off the truck that comes to her shop. Shes the office manager at an autobody shop in town. I talked to the guy on the Snap-On truch yesterday and he said if one ever breaks to give him a call and he'll deliver a brand new one, no questions asked, no reciept needed, nada. Good enough for me so far.

Don't get me wrong, Bluepoint is good stuff. I'm just going by my experiences and what I have been told.

I have several differnt blue point wrench sets injector pullers and impacts in my box. They have been just as good as the snap-ons. Just not as pretty and snappy has always warrantied them. Some he even replaced the blue point with snap-on. But I have known him for 15 years out of the same business. If you find a good tool man stick with him. Mac, Matco, Cornwell, etc. have been in and out of here so much and with so many owners you never know what you've got.

Well I have about 30 Blue point soldering irons that 2 different snap on dealers will not take back.

I have been researching the blue point snap on wrenches. I am looking for a good deal. When the truck comes to my shop they only have a metric or a standard set.

Metric and standard...what other kinds are there? Or, are metric and standard the same thing and the other one is called American? I don't remember, for some reason I thought Metric was metric and Standard was American. Someone wanna clear this up for my foggy bottom.

I don't know if this makes a difference but some companies will warranty hand and/mechanical tools (ratchets, impacts, etc.) but will not warranty some electrical items. Maybe that's how your soldering irons fall through the "warranty cracks".

Did the snap on dealers give you a reason as to why they the would not replace them other than just saying "NO".

Maybe because I go through a dozen of them a year? ):h I don't remember what his answer was. IIRC Blue point has a limited warranty as opposed to Snap-on's lifetime warranty.

I will ask for clarification next time he comes around.

Then I think I would just start buying snap-on versions with the lifetime warranty...:D

I had a similar problem with my Master Tools soldering iron that ran on ultratane. When I purchased it, the dealer told me it was not for commercial use to be used all day long. I worked at Circuti City at the time installing stereo's and alarms....what did he think I was going to do with it. When I started having problems he would not warranty it. I also found some other tool guys who refused to warranty it and would not give me the reason. I gave up at that point and decided if I could buy a tool at sears, I would because clearly these other guys weren't worth the extra money. Sears has warranties some stuff for me that is obvious misuse. They have my business.
