I asked this question before and a couple guys said, Stroud Safety. Tomac said his was like $600. Maybe their is a cheaper one out there.

Stroud. Mikes is 4.2 Kevlar, you can get a 4.1 for about half.

I talked to Stroud the other day. They sent me to Enterprise Engine in Ohio. They said they are getting some 4.1 blankets retrofitted for the Allison as we speak.

More for the driver...............keeps parts contained if the tranny explodes

I'm having 10 of these custom made for the Allison, to 4.1 spec. Should be ready next Friday. I'm waiting for final pricing. Looks like around $250.

are you getting bell housing blankets or trans blankets?
the bell housing blanket can be put on without removing trans. the trans blanket, well good luck, me and merchant struggled with it when we had the t-case out and the rear of the trans drooping once on i couldn't shift worth a darn.

I'm having both made. I quoted pricing for full blankets. You may be right on the fit, it is really tight. I'll know shortly.

4.2, 4.1? whats that mean?

4.1 is Ballastic Nylon.
4.2 is Kevlar and generally twice as much $$.

Kevlar is the laughing stock in the auto trans industry. A few years ago there were Kevlar clutches and bands and other parts and they all failed miserably and still are. I got tired of towing cars back with failed Kevlar lining. I would not pay half price for Kevlar let alone double.

WOW

i think a lot of people think kevlar is great because they use it in bulletproof vest and people think that it is so good because of that reason i dont get all the kevlar hype

MikeL, they are talking kevlar for a safety blanket not internals.

A trans safety blanket made from Kevlar is lighter and thinner than one made out of balistic nylon.

It cost me $300 for Stroud to make a pattern off a bellhousing I sent them and another $300 for them to make a SFI 4.2 bellhousing blanket.

Depending on the trans safety rules where you're pulling you'll either need a bellhousing blanket or a full trans blanket. The full blanket wraps around the entire trans and pan and goes from the back of the block to the end of the tailhousing or front of the t-case.

I know Kevlar has its place but I have not found it yet in my business. Of course, if I found out you were coming after me, I would order some Kevlar undies real quick. ):h
