: Trans Go kit
cjk65 01-11-2006, 10:38 PM Installing a trango kit this weekend and was wondering if there where any suprises that they didn't included in the video? I have watched it a couple of times and didn't know if there was anything that they left out or snags that I would run into?
Thanks
Mike L. 01-11-2006, 11:30 PM Will you be pulling the trans to do this? If not, you might be missing the neatest part.

Would that be the "Gil younger blow proof 2nd gear snapring" ? Gotta love his 1950's face planted on every box:D .

That and the cross drill in the pump. Actually, Gil does not look much different today.:D
DURAtotheMAX 01-12-2006, 11:15 AM yeah I got a kick out of the TransGo instructions. I laughed at how "conversational" the instructions were like for example they say "lubing the clutch piston isnt a bad idea" haha...
Max Power 01-12-2006, 04:25 PM Not sure if you guys know this but this is the 4L80 section, not the allison.
cjk65 01-12-2006, 09:39 PM Not pulling the tranmission as there is nothing wrong with it except that is time for service, just want to increase longevity...

I am pretty sure Mike thought you were talking about an Allison in which case you need to pull the trans to properly install the Transgo.

I know where I'm at. ):h One of the important things in the Transgo instructions is to remove pump and cross drill for lube. This can hive you 10 percent more low end and midrange tq.

REALLY!!!!!!!!
I did my kit, worked great, my second to third shift is a little weird, RPMs max a little high but the shifts are firm.
ip2222 01-15-2006, 09:28 AM Mike, (crossdrilling can add 10% low end torque)???
Could you explain how?

This tech is not new and almost every car maker in the world uses it. I believe Transgo pioneered it. When we cross drill the pump we are leaking mainline pressure into the lube ckt ( converter ) to charge the torque converter more efficiently. This also increases the flow through the cooler from 100 to 200 %. The tq gain depends on the size of the engine ie the bigger the engine the more dramatic the gain. We started doing this mod back in the early 80s on the 700 R4 and in '92, GM started doing it on every 4L60E. GM did not do it in the first 4L60E in "91. I believe this mod to be one of the most important in the Transgo kit.

Chicago TDP 01-15-2006, 04:47 PM Hey Mike, can u provide some instructions on what to do and maybe some pics?
Mike L. 01-15-2006, 04:51 PM The instructions and pictures are in the Transgo shift kit.
cjk65 01-17-2006, 09:19 PM The kit is in and I can definatly tell a difference The real difference is in the 40mph and then mash the go pedal, the downshift is right there and then bam off you go:ro)
The video was o.k. to follow, they have made several changes, and need to follow the instructions as they overide the video. Only complaint is there was no flow they had you jump around alot
I did not see anything in the instructions about the cross drilling. The only thing would have been if it where in the "if you remove the transmision" instructions.
Mike L. 01-17-2006, 11:43 PM Trans must be removed to do this mod. You guys are really missing something.

As long as you know where you're at. You lost me years ago. ):h
cjk65 01-23-2006, 05:52 PM Here is the, if you remove the transmission instructions. Which step did you want us to do??
Mike L. 01-23-2006, 08:35 PM Step 4
cjk65 01-23-2006, 09:19 PM O.K. Thanks, if I ever take it out that will be the first thing that I will do.
DIESELMAN75 01-23-2006, 09:31 PM This can hive you 10 percent more low end and midrange tq wow that is a big gain MIKE i wish i would have done that when i had my 98 3/4 ton with a 454 and 4l80e in it that would have made it a lot better
