Blow By .... How much is normal if any? Where is the vent tube that it comes from. My screen name needs to be changed to Now I Got One, but I had it up on the rack the other day and noticed the underside has quite a bit of oil on it and was wondering if this was something any of you have dealt with. By the way it is an '02 with 36720 miles. Thanks

Dosent sound good...

There should not be any oil/fuel on the belly of the truck. Check your oil level, smell like diesel?

OK so I had in to the shop and since we had 4" of rain yesterday and I was out driving around the under-carriage looked like it had been power washed. He had it on his rack and couldn't see anything. He said to just keep an eye on it. Maybe I was a bit over anxious and it was just grime or film from the vent tube.

I have the same issue. I have 31K on my 02 truck. It's always wet around the vent tude and the wire harness. I also have a oil film on the skid pan. It's not enough to drip, but enough to collect dirt and leave an oil smell. I have not noticed any oil usage within my 5K oil changes. I noticed the oil smell when I walk around the front of the truck with it running. I cleaned it with degreaser and the smell went away for awhile. I'm not sure, but I think it's worse since I started running synthetic motor oil. I plan on taking it to the dealer in a few weeks for some other issues, so I will have them look into this problem also.

I have read other simular posts about the same thing but due to cold weather. The coldest weather here so far was 27 deg in the morning. Now it's been about 41 deg in the morning and it still weeps oil out the vent tube. Any more insight to this issue would be great before I take it to the Stealers.

The vent tube from the crankcase is above the steering linkage just to the passenger's side from center. You have to poke around a bit but you will see the tube hanging down. This vents oil and condensation from the oil reservoir and will leave the underside oily at times. This may be what you are seeing. SPICER
