: Edge junk
ND Duramax 01-11-2006, 08:39 AM My truck would not start today so i pulled the edge out and my truck runs great. It made 2 miles the gallon better without the chip. My buddy has a dodge same thing yesterday with the edge. The only good thing about edge is the customer service they told me to send it in and they would send me out a new one. Once i get the new one it will be on ebay!
turbo-max 01-11-2006, 08:42 AM lol...wuss
Dutch110 01-11-2006, 09:32 AM Sounds like you got the bad one out of the batch. Same thing has happened with every tuner manufacturer out there. You may want to give it a second chance once you get a fresh one as from what I have read on here a ton of people are very happy with their Edge. Of course a lot of people are happy with their Predators, their Banks, their Westers tune, their VA box... you get the idea.
jkimmel 01-11-2006, 09:51 AM had mine on for about 8,000 miles now, love it, never had a single glitch thus far. :)
lakingslayer 01-11-2006, 10:01 AM 20K miles and counting. I don't know why people complain about the fuel milage hit since these things tend to command more fuel to go faster faster. None of the programmers will improve fuel mileage FMPE (aka from my personal experience). My only complaint is the stacking ability of the Edge.
mattydmax 01-11-2006, 10:01 AM Dang it! I am in the process of ditching my Bully Dog and was going to get the Edge. Now what?...Other than the one problem how did it work for you the rest of the time? My Bully Dog was crap from the start. Never ran well and always stumbled at start from a stop sign or the like. It wouldn't really allow a smooth start which is great when hooking up a trailer!
Got Juice? 01-11-2006, 10:05 AM Sometimes you get a bad one.
For the record, I still have an original juice 90 that is now over 4 years old!
It was a 60, then upgraded to 90, and only the version has been updated to 4.3
Edge will take care of it.
BTW, speaking of bad modules, if you have ever had a flash programmer 'stick' during a load, then you will truly know the meaning of P'd off! The truck won't even start!
At least with plug and play, if there is a problem, you unhook and everything is ok.

yeoop , been there done that 4hrs of messing around until you finally get the balls to just unhook it and see if it took your stock tune with it  ,Edge has a good warranty dept, dont judge 1 bad apple from the bunch as a whole. all electronic devices have issues now and then ;)
coyotekid 01-11-2006, 10:36 AM Juice does bring up a good point there.
I too have been pissed at Edge in the past, but I really can't argue a bit with their customer service. They seem to always pull through. I can't say I like dealing with companies that have high failure rates, though.
I base most other companies' performance as compared to Leupold scopes. In my opinion, they make some of the best optics in the world an average Joe can afford, and they back their products with an OUTSTANDING warranty.

Go ahead and get the Edge, mine has been on for the last 40,000 + miles. It has never given me one ounce of trouble.
I pulled it to make a trip to the dealer for a problem with the radio button. I didnt get a chance to put it back on until the next weekend. I had to drive 3 days without it. How anyone who has had a box can drive without it is beyond me.
Kennedy 01-11-2006, 11:04 AM I'll agree that there's too many of these things going bad, but sometimes it just takes a positive attitude (no pun intended) and to roll with it. Is it really that difficult to swap out???
Got Juice? 01-11-2006, 12:08 PM Is it really that difficult to swap out???
Well, gosh, golly gee John, When removing the bale connector clips you do run the risk of breaking a nail!
Soft Hands:lol:
Kennedy 01-11-2006, 12:10 PM Whe I first read this I thought of what that little fat stocking capped kid from CO says when things don't go his way...
Can we get a smilie with that Chad?
coyotekid 01-11-2006, 01:30 PM LOL...it's no biggie swapping modules out...and my hands ain't too soft! :)
I guess it's the principle more than anything...buying a product you KNOW has a relatively high failure rate.
Hopefully their quality will improve...they do many things well--I'll give them that.

been there, done that.. Hypertech. When they say don't touch cable, don't touch anything eletronic while its programming..they realling mean it.

just like my Predator did, they really mean pull the fuses and don't open any doors of have any lights on
Got Juice? 01-11-2006, 05:01 PM just like my Predator did, they really mean pull the fuses and don't open any doors of have any lights on
On 2001-2 trucks it is not the end of the world to not pull the fuses. On 2003 and up.... I have discovered the hard way. Radio did it:eek:
C.A.P 01-11-2006, 05:24 PM Try leaving OFF STAR (ON STAR) FUSE IN AND HAVE THEM CLOG THE DATA LINE:mad: , mix that with a Nav unit and 6 disc changer with video dvd interface through the data stream  , dont forget to throw in two audio interfaces for dvd sound and sub woofer amp hook up:( , I have been locked up before :wtf: :banghead: , I have had a assortment of fuses in my seat , looked like Cap'n Crunch with all the colors  , a few beers later You have the courage to tempt fate and luck with the tuner gods and hope you dont get :nutkick: .Never will you say :hail: :hail: "Just let me have my stock tune back" !!!!! as passionate as that moment:D
Got Juice? 01-11-2006, 05:29 PM Never will you say :hail: :hail: "Just let me have my stock tune back" !!!!! as passionate as that moment:D
When it happened to me the first time, I believe I used a word that sounds like 3Sucker:mad:
Then it was, begging the electron gods with the mantra "Start now you $#$#)$%)(~! "
It took 3 times but stock finally went back in:eek:
lakingslayer 01-11-2006, 05:32 PM I think Edge may need to get a hold of one of these quirky trucks to debug this problem. XR-Freak has a GMC truck built the same month as mine. He could never get his Edge to behave on his truck but it worked flawlessly on mine. Mine never worked worth a damn on his truck but works fine on my truck. He even tried different versions and the 1.2 was worse than the 1.0. He's running a Predator now with no issues. I can run both a Predator and an Edge. My truck likes the Edge better than the Predator.
Ben46a 01-11-2006, 06:12 PM Jeeze you guys are lucky, i had my hypertech frig up 19 times in a row to get the stock tune back in, it always froze at 63%. The level 3 tune will always go in , but the rest forget it. Im goin PPE when the new clutch goes in.
turbo-max 01-11-2006, 10:00 PM never had any issues with my pred
Kennedy 01-12-2006, 09:40 PM Edge PROBLEMS might have gone over a bit better...
crs2fer 01-12-2006, 10:06 PM My $.02... Ver. 1.0 didn't work,:( 1.2 didn't workCensored I just sent it back in for what I hear that there may be another update?? 3rd times a charm? I'll guess I'll find out.
dbierman 02-23-2006, 03:33 AM :exactly:lol...wuss
Cummin_Stroke_this_Dmax 02-25-2006, 01:03 AM I've been running Edge version 1.0 since last May. No problems, until tonight. I left work, stopped by a friends shop, BS'd for 1/2 an hour and the truck wouldnt start when I went to leave. Truck cranked and cranked - no start. I then noticed the attitude was not lit up. I popped the hood, unhooked Edge and it started right up. I guess that means I need to calling up 'ol Edge and getting a new one on the way?
I would recomend the banks big hoss bundell. It is a lot of money but you can tow with it and you don't lose mpg. By the way it runs like a mother f@#!*r...

Thanks but NO thanks.
lakingslayer 02-28-2006, 10:11 AM I had zero issues with the Edge 1.0 or even the 1.2. I had the opportunity to try the 1.2 before I sent my 1.0 back and I liked it even better. Just my .02
66flh 02-28-2006, 10:27 AM I like mine.I dont think I could ever drive my truck again without The Edge.
