I'm new to this site and am active in the market for a new 2500HD. I've spend no lie, about 5 hours reading posts!! This site is awsome! Here is my challenge-I will be towing, but not a lot. Only about 15% of the time. I'll be towing a 6,000 trailer with a car. I just bought a 2500 Avalanche 4 WEEKS AGO and have 1,300 miles on it! I like it, but I'm kicking myself EVERY minute that I didn't buy a 2500HD to begin with. Anyway, I'll take it like a man, and be happy with my trade in amount. There is a bigger rebate for a LLY versus a LBZ. Based on my situation, does it make sense to spend the extra $1,000 to get the LBZ? Thoughts/opinions???
Thanks.

Well at this point you might as well get the LBZ or you might be in another situation like you are in now ;) The LLY will tow it fine, it's all the power you need, but then so is your avallanche ;) It's your choice but it's tough buying something and wishing you would have done something different.

If the extra $1000 bucks doesn't bother you then get the LBZ. You might want to see whats available in your area first.
I did a search today just for kicks on the GM buy power and can't find 1 extended cab within 100 miles of me. Some guys say they have dealers with 9 or 10.
If you have to order you'll get an LBZ but you'll be sitting around waiting like the rest of us. Your buying new, I'd say get the newest they have. :cool2:

Get the LBZ. If the difference was $3500-4000, you might get me to consider a different outcome. For $1000....that's a no brainer for me. Of course, I have a biased opinion. That's the decision I already made when I traded my LLY for the LBZ.
Thankful

I'd go ahead and get the LBZ. I think the LBZ is probably maxed out without putting too much strain on the Allison. I don't think the Duramax torque will be increased anymore unless the Allison gets some refinements to handle the extra power.

Depending how long you keep it, the LBZ may bring you back the $1000 on resale as more demand.

If you are considering a new vehicle after only 4 weeks and willing to take any trade amount, I would think $1000 wouldn't make a difference. I think you would be happy with either, but you probably should get the LBZ.

I would have to agree with the other posters. The $1000 difference doesn't appear to be real significant and may be a wash in resale. I'm not sure if the 6speed is avail with the LLY. If not, I would go with the LBZ. With the 6sp it should get better freeway mileage. Provided you can keep a light foot.

Get the LBZ! If you get the LLY you'll just wish you had went for the LBZ. The LBZ is already more sought after - that will never change.

The 6 speed ally comes with the LLY and the LBZ. (FYI)

im in the market for the LBZ no question, i think its an awesome motor, and the extra 1000$ is worth it. or by the way, the dealer around here has 15 lbz's ;)
