: Fuel Injector Leak or just a Return?

This is kind of hard to describe, but ever since I have had this motorhome for a year now. All 8 injectors have a black hose connecting from one injector return, bleeder to the other successively from front to back, the last ones respectively on each side only had a small piece of hose with a screw inserted in the end. I should say that I checked my haynes and they do not appear to be the "Micro injector" type and so it looks more like a return rather than a bleeder valve, but what do I know. I have been told that instead of those pieces of hose with screws in them, there should be similar hose going back to a T in the fuel return line by the injector pump. The thing is yeserday I went to Advanced to see if I can find the hose and T, and I told this salesman who seemed to know about diesel and injectors what I had and what I was looking for and he asked you have a hose running from each injector etc? I said yeah and he said that isn't the way it's supposed to be, he suspects leaking injectors, he said that the heat would eventually destroy the engine rings and that I should replace all 8 injectors, here's the kicker the injectors are all less than 5 years old. He argued that it doesn't matter what's new to me is not new to him. Is he right are they leaking or are they the way they are supposed to be and all I need to do is run some hose to the T or is he bsing me and just trying to ring up a $400 sale?
Thanks

Injectors ARE supposed to have rubber lines running from one injector to the next. The last injector on each bank is supposed to have a rubber cap, but a screw in an old piece of hose will work in a pinch. Make sure you don't have a cracked rubber line. These are called return lines and new ones are available reasonably.

Wow!!! I am glad you left that store before you were skinned!!!!! I would write to the Corporate offices. Maybe you should try CarQuest next time you shop for parts. They are competive in prices and have stores across the U.S. and Canada.

Yep the ones on the end with screws will work. FYI ... I just bought the little rubber capped ends for the last injector. In stock at the local GMC dealer and only a couple buck each.
