I had a wheel ruined on my 97 and I found a set of used wheels that I like but the salesman said that they won't fit my pickuk. Is that true?

As far as I know all the Dodge 2500/3500 have a 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern, the only other 8 lug pattern is the Ford 99' + Superduty's 8 on 170mm. You should even be able to use a set of 8 lug GM wheels as well, I think as long as it's a 16" or bigger any of the Dodge/GM wheels should fit no problems.

The sales man said something about the newer ones having disc brakes on the rear also. I wouldn't think that it should matter since the 97 has them on the front too. Spacing I would think would be the same.

00 had drums and 01 had discs, yet both came with the same tires and wheels stock.

16's or bigger, that's all you need to fit around the calipers, I had 16's before my 16.5's, with 16's its really, really close but nothing touches, my truck has 4-wheel discs.
