Anyone heard a rubbing noise coming from inside cab behind steering wheel when making fast turns either direction. Happens intermittently but getting consistantly more frequent. Kinda sounds like a power steering pump that has very low fluid. But again this noise is inside truck at top of steering column. Would like to fix myself if anyone has heard this. Hate taking truck to dealer unless absolutely neccessary.
Note: Did have steering shaft replaced at dealer for a clunking feeling in steering wheel. So far so good after approximately 5000 miles.
Thanks for the help!

I can't really help you with an answer, but I can relate. I had my steering shaft replaced in my 2005 to relieve the clunking. It did. However, I traded the clunking for that same "rubbing" "honking" type noise when I turn the wheel quickly... sounds like its right in the steering around the shifter... same with yours?

YES! i have the same issue. had my steering shaft replaced. the day after it was replaced i started hearing this same noise. it squeaks from the steering column when you turn left or right but not everytime. i took it back to the dealer and they said they would check it out. went to pick the truck up and they said the boot where the steering shaft comes thru the firewall was pinched and they fixed it. however, as soon as i left the dealership on the way home i heard the squeal again.....have not taken it back in yet.
it almost sounds like they need to grease or lube something on the steering column but not sure. keep us posted if you find a fix.

I have the very same problem. Recently had the intermediate shaft replaced and now when I turn (seems mostly when turning left) at slow speeds I get a groaning rubbing sound. It is pretty loud. If anyone figures it out, please post. Thanks.

maybe you just need to lube the saft or something beast i could come up with or just head down to the dealer
