 I have read the iratic idling of others, mine is more than minor, can actually watch & hear the engine drop off & pick up again. Two dealers told me they didn't know! Now, I have some info for them. Love to educate a dealership! Had rotors replaced that looked like delaminating plywood. Was told it wasn't a warranty issue. Have talked to more than one dealership who have actually told customers to buy after market rotors. GM needs to either put decent parts on their trucks or own up to warranty issues! Have replaced idler arm, pitman arm, inner tie rod ends. This gets greased every 2,000 miles. Sick of lousy parts! Buy a diesel for the torque and longevity to tow, then only to be nickled & dimed by parts that fail when either not maintained or or finally just wear out after long usage & many miles! Am I wrong? 2001 Duramax, Crewcab short bed, Reese 16K fifth wheel, for a 2006 Mountaineer 319BHS 100,200 all Amsoil synthetic, Edwards tonneau roll top cover. Otherwise factory . Massachusetts

Sounds like a fpr, and for 100k on a truck the maintenance that you have described is normal on any vehicle maybe even less. Just because a truck has a diesel engine does not mean that the other parts dont wear out like a normal vehicle. Buy a ferd or a dodge and you'll probably be doing balljoints on the front end before a 100k. But the brakes are problamatic in the rear, had all mine replaced by the dealer before I purchased it used. Bottom line is that you will have to wrench on any vehicle in one way or the other by 100k, because if you haven't you don't have enough mods!!!!!!!

dls64chev...i don't agree with your statement......what you are saying only goes on domestic cars...a 45,000 dls truck should hold 100,000 with no problems..thats why toyota is climbing over domestic trucks...gm should do better if they want to stay in the lead...i would hate to see the new toyota 2500 diesel that is coming out soon be the thing to have. i would not trade my d-max for one...i love my truck, but i got to baby it like a pair of woman underware.

Either get the FPRV replaced or put some additive in the diesel. The additive fixes my idle flux. BTW, I never notice it on the highway, but only in town driving.

Can't help with the brakes. No problem with mine at 55k or dad's at 110k. My 1994 350 has 250k on all original except for maintenance items. I change front brake pads every 30k and install rebuilt calipers every 60k. New rear brakes about 100-150k.

Personally I am very happy with only having to do brakes on the 2500HD every 110-140k (forum average).

Yeah ok, you try finding brakes on any pick-up that weighs 7000+lbs that will last 100k(I dont think so). Baby it why? Edge juice with attitude for 30,000 miles and havent heard a peep from anything on the truck(no 4wd launches of course but what do you expect with 800 ft lbs). Go sand duning with it as well. Pull your skirt up Sally.
