: Vane position for the Boost stick...
Does the BS change the vane position or is the turbo using the same position it normally would for say 10lbs of boost when the stick it actually creating 20lbs of boost?
The reason i ask is because if it does not change the vane position this could be the reason for the turbo fart issue(cavatation due to wrong vane position?). Mine does it quite a bit!
RickDLance 01-08-2006, 09:56 PM Do you have your EGR disabled?
YellaCat 01-08-2006, 10:13 PM To answer your question the BS does not directly change the vane angle, it does trick the ecm into thinking there is less boost then there really is. So the ecm orders a change in the angle to increase boost accordingly. So I guess indirectly it does.
Rick has the answer to your problem however. The increased boost combined with the sudden decrease of drive pressure because of the EGR opening up is causing the barking.
RickDLance 01-08-2006, 10:15 PM After what happened to sideswiper I am blocking the EGR's on all my trucks!
turBeau 01-09-2006, 06:50 AM I don't have mine blocked but it is definately UNplugged.
turbo-max 01-09-2006, 09:30 AM mine is blocked, but not unplugged (egr)
OKRED 01-10-2006, 11:57 AM What happen to sideswiper? I have my EGR unhoooked and no problems with BS and EDGE so far, is there a reason to need a blocker plate?
jmg343 01-10-2006, 12:32 PM Sideswipers EGR got stuck open and he lost all power and was seeing a lot of smoke. He got stranded at an unfamiliar dealership, ended up going to another one, leaving his truck there, renting a car, and going home. He found out many days later and many hundreds of dollars later that it was the EGR stuck open. That is why the plate is a good thing. It also took the dealership a very long time to figure out that this was the problem.

tmboughton5 01-10-2006, 03:39 PM I unplugged my EGR before I got the boost stick and seemed to lose MPG so I plugged it back in. I have a boost stick on now and have not had any problems. Would I be tempting fate to unplug the EGR again?

No, UNplug it now! You will be doing your engine a favor.
seedguy 01-10-2006, 11:03 PM Unplugged the EGR harness 4 days ago. Much less smoke with the Juice, seems like snappier low end, but MPG is sufferring. Tank average was 12.4 on local driving, 30-40 degrees.
Why would unplugging the EGR hurt MPG? Seems like it helped performance otherwise.
Ben, turning offthe EGR is not good enough. Fingers and MaxPower stated that the EGR can be pushed open by the psi. I have logged this via my scan tool and seen the false boost on my gauge in the truck. A blocker plate is a must have for everyone, even if it is unplugged or turned off.
Cougar281 01-11-2006, 12:26 AM Lateley I've been seeing more smoke than usual... Is it possible my EGR is starting to stick? It'll smoke more than usual when cold (used to smoke a little, now the front yard gets a light blue haze when I idle thetruck for a few) and I've noticed that very often when I get on it on the highway, it'll smoke more than it used to.
Does the 2.02 predator turn the EGR off, or just surpress the codes?
Wasted Income 01-11-2006, 01:57 AM Does the 2.02 predator turn the EGR off, or just surpress the codes?
It completely disables the EGR system in the programming. I have verified this with EFI Live.
